The Obama administration on Monday unveiled a series of new executive actions aimed at reducing gun violence and making some political headway on one of the most frustrating policy areas of President Obamaâs tenure.
The package, which Obama plans to announce Tuesday, includes 10 separate provisions, White House officials said. One key provision would require more gun sellers â especially those who do business on the Internet and at gun shows â to be licensed and would force them to conduct background checks on potential buyers. Obama would devote $500 million more in federal funds to treating mental illness â a move that could require congressional approval â and require that firearms lost in transit between a manufacturer and seller be reported to federal authorities.
Under the presidentâs actions, the FBI will hire more than 230 additional examiners and other personnel to help process new background checks, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives has established a new investigation center to keep track of illegal gun trafficking online and will devote $4 million and additional personnel to enhance the National Integrated Ballistics Information Network.
âThe gun lobby may be holding Congress hostage, but they canât hold America hostage. We canât accept this carnage in our communities,â Obama said in a Twitter message Monday evening, referring to the National Rifle Association. The president is scheduled to talk about his new policies in the East Room on Tuesday, and he will participate in a town hall at George Mason University two days later, which will be televised on CNN.

LoL.
It took only 18 words for the WaPo to deliver their first lie.
What’s being held hostage is American rights.
IF he could flap them big “dumbo” ears as much as he flaps his lying mouth, he’d be a rocket in outer space.
So the president who tells me that ANY attempt to regulate or control who comes into this country is a violation of our Constitution, even though the Constitution says nothing about refugees is now telling me that his gun control regulations don’t violate the Constitution even though the Constitution says the right to bear arms shall not be infringed?
That logic makes perfect sense in Obamaland. :)
So a government that has raised my taxes, taken my freedom and treated me like dirt is now looking at ways to disarm me?
That’s smart of them. :)
Ryan/Mcconnell will fund it all
I want to know how any judge would except an Executive order in court? They are simply not the law.
Any State Governor should declare them Null and void in there states and threaten to put any fed who tries to enforce them in Jail.
Screw that bastard!! HINWAS
Isn't that all stuff they are supposed to be doing now?
(I'm all for more personnel to speed up background checks. My last "instant" background check took about 4 hours.)
That will not stand in any court in the land. Not once.
I can testify to the truth of your graphic. I have a family member who is a licensed gun dealer as a side job and he can barely keep up. He posts his wares on a gun broker site, sends out some emails, makes trips to the post office, and the cash just rolls in. He just wanted something to do for his retirement years in the future, but he could easily quit his job and just do this full time.
Which is why the omnibus spending bill was soooo very stupid. Congress has NO real way to stop this via the budget. Pathetic.

âThe Social Security Administration is also exploring a process that would submit information about beneficiaries with mental health disabilities to the background check system.â
It is my experience that most of the people who get SSI for behavioral health “disabilities” are minorities and lesbians who have gotten someone to diagnose them with bipolar disorder. That’s a real racket and you can be sure that all of those people vote dummiecrat.
