Do you obey it? Do you insist others obey it?
Fraud.
I do neither; it doesn’t currently apply to me (because of my own insurance), and I could care less if others ignore it - just curious as to how they intend to keep their homes/vehicles, etc. if they get sick.
Keyboard commando, do you pay taxes?
Come and get me,” Ms. Reardon said.
She’s made of steel I tell you. Reardon Steel.
The Feds do not want Ms Reardon- they will hound
and get -WHAT EVER THEY WANT!!-
including Home ,auto, life savings- once she decides
to “break” the law- oh excuse me - the “TAX!”
because she is a rebel.. she will be made an example
of this failed republic
In May 2010, the Houston reported that U.S. Immigration and Customs (ICE) agents and Border Protection officers at Houston's George Bush Intercontinental Airport confiscated more than $250,000 in cash and almost $160,000 in gold and silver in 14 separate seizures from individual travelers during that one month alone.
Are you talking about insurance for medical treatment or do you mean liability insurance?
Medical insurance; even if they can’t seize it, you’ll never sell it with those outstanding debts.
And used to attack Republican candidates to office by claiming Republican want to make cuts or end the programs.
Heaven forbid that programs that hurt people and damage the social structure of our country be ended.
One of the few things that GW Bush did that earned him any respect in my book was his efforts to change SS to allow younger people to opt out to a self-administered plan and the Democrats attacked him mercilessly. 'Bush is going to end the 'Social Contract!' No he was going to end one public addiction to government.
Structure your life so you don’t “own” anything
Put everything into trusts, a good attorney will set this up for you.
By the time you are done, you personally “own” nothing.
Buy a $5000 car at the used car lot, I doubt they would even bother seizing it.
Protect your assets from the government and liberals
Good question. My understanding is the only way they can get it is by offsetting against a refund the taxpayer may have coming. Just make sure that you are underpaid in withholding each year and they can't get their stinkin' hands on it.
Yup!...but if u have section 8 housing you're home free
But... But... They are uninsured! Surely the President doesn’t know about this! /sarc
“Many holdouts have made their decisions after meticulously comparing the cost of insurance premiums and deductibles with paying for doctor appointments, lab tests and prescriptions themselves.”
These people also took the time to go onto the ACA exchanges to “price” their insurance — probably more than once. How many times did the Obama Administration count these “website hits” as a new enrollment?
I don’t have Section 8 housing, and wouldn’t trade places with people who do. I risk a lot if I would go without health insurance (whether I paid the fine or not).
In July, the Internal Revenue Service said 710,000 people who had received subsidies under the Affordable Care Act had not filed tax returns and had not requested more time to do so.
So they still get your money and you don’t have insurance?
As for the tax penalty, which could approach $1,500 for her?
"Come and get me," Ms. Reardon said.
Mark my words, folks ... as this mindset gets more prevalent, I predict that a lot of people in this age group will end up resorting to crime -- even horrific ones -- just to: (1) make a point, and (2) get their medical bills paid by the taxpayer.
1. The way Obamacare is written, you can sign up for coverage after you face a catastrophic medical event. This is the idiocy of the Obamacare provision that prohibits insurance companies from denying coverage for people with pre-existing conditions.
2. If you are injured in an auto accident -- which is by far the most common cause of injuries for Americans -- then you can have your medical care covered by your auto insurance policy, not your medical insurance.
In the example cited in this article, this woman can easily sign away any of her assets to her husband -- who is covered under Medicare. She may have already done this, which might explain why she's so cavalier about paying the IRS penalties.
If I fall down my stairs and wrack up $50K in medical bills within 24 hours, I don’t think I can retroactively have ObamaCare absorb those costs.
Right. The woman in the article is saying she couldn’t afford the deductibles on $50k in medical bills, anyway.
“. The way Obamacare is written, you can sign up for coverage after you face a catastrophic medical event.”
No, that’s all wrong. Unless you are applying for Medicaid there is no retroactive coverage, application has to be made during an open enrollment period (except for some qualifying circumstances), and coverage will not begin until the first of the next month (more often the second month).
