Scalia Dismisses Concept of Religious Neutrality in Speech
AP via Newsmax ^ | Saturday, 02 Jan 2016

Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia says the idea of religious neutrality is not grounded in the country's constitutional traditions and that God has been good to the U.S. exactly because Americans honor him.

Scalia was speaking Saturday at Archbishop Rummel High School in Metairie,.....

Scalia, who was appointed by President Ronald Reagan in 1986, has consistently been one of the court's more conservative members.

He told the audience at the Catholic school that there is "no place" in the country's constitutional traditions for the idea that the state must be neutral between religion and its absence.

He also said there is "nothing wrong" with the idea of presidents and others invoking God in speeches. He said God has been good to America because Americans have honored him.

To the extent that America has denied, rejected and disobeyed God He has with held His blessing. Our current Godless leadership and their contempt for God’s law has made it impossible for God to continue His blessing.

After the ratification of the Bill of Rights, several states had state religions, and maintained them yet for years. The First Amendment was enacted to stop government from meddling in religion, not to keep religion from weighing in on government.

"It is one of the unhappy incidents of the federal system that
a self-righteous Supreme Court, acting on its Members' personal view
of what would make a 'more perfect Union'
(a criterion only slightly more restrictive than a 'more perfect world')
can impose its own favored social and economic dispositions nationwide."

Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia
United States v. Virginia (dissenting).

My favorite Justice by far

Light years ahead of The Robotic Four of Clinton/Bambi appointments. They are a total disgrace

As Ben Franklin often put in his "to do" list for the day,

Rise. Address Powerful GOODNESS!

Yeah, say goodbye to Justices like Scalia if Trump is elected.

Trump has said his favorite Supreme Court jurist is Clarance Thomas...so your comment sounds like spiteful thinking.

I think it is extremely important, since these justices are appointed for life and we have a Court that could easily become dominated by liberals. Then all of our rights would be in jeopardy. So many cases have been decided 5/4. One of the cases that Cruz won protecting our 2nd Amendment rights was that close.

He said he thought his sister, who is a pro-abortion liberal, would make a good SC Justice. Trump criticized Scalia because Trump completely misunderstood the context of Scalia’s comments, in which Scalia was reading a court transcript.

Nothing is more important than a nation’s disposition toward the Almighty. Nothing.

Why would this upset Trump? Scalia supports God and so does Donald.

The real problem is that Islam is a political system operating under the guise of Religion.

Trump skewered Scalia with damnable lies a couple weeks ago.....thus my comment.

By the way, very odd the way you and Donald talk about God. Very odd....seems kind of unfamiliar to me.

I’ve no problem with what you said about Islam....but that’s a different topic.

Trump said Scalia was a respected justice and that what he read in the paper surprised him and he didn’t like it.

Don’t let your Trump spite turn you into a liar...
