I know the score reaching way back to 80's. Unless we killed them all, a choice has to be made. We don't really have an expectation that what replaces Assad will be definitely better. We are dealing with Assad and Al-Baghdadi. What about Al-Nusra Front? By the way, Obama ceded Iraq to Iran.

You may be OK with ISIS/Al-Nusra, Qatar, Saudi, and neo-Ottoman Turkey, but many think otherwise.

The best case scenario which is next to impossible is that:

(1) Somehow Assad is toppled and Syria is reborn as vibrant stable secular democracy.

(2) Saudi, Qatar, Turkey, and Obama finally come to their senses, and set out to exterminate ISIS.

(3) Gulf countries vow to stop exporting their Wahabism.

(4) Iraq Shiites, Sunnis, and Kurds band together and with Obama full military support, drive out Iranians from Iraq.

(5) Syrians slaughter Hezbollahs to extinction.

(6) "Evil phony Christian Putin" is driven out of power and hung from a lamp post in Moscow's Red Square.
