I think the problem with office space is worse. On top of the original flight from NYC’s costs, the regulations regarding backup sites (that emerged as a result of 9/11) caused some companies to simply leave rather than maintain 2 sites. Many companies that want the “prestige” of an NYC address simply keep a PO box there; the back-office jobs have been leaving for decades.
Some FReepers will point out areas where rents/prices are still high, and I’m sure they exist; overall, the city is facing the same decline that every other city with a sizable unassimilated “gypsy” population (that contributes nothing while demanding everything) faces.
Watch out for the “war on PO boxes”!
Each PO box will be taxed to feed one native welfare “family unit” and another of illegals, as well as employing one government worker (teacher, cop, fireman, etc.).
But it is good that NYC has nothing better to worry about than the inhabitants of planet pervert...er...prevert....
