Clinton Transition Left $15,000 Damage, GAO Says
L. A. Times ^ | June 12, 2002 | MICHELLE MUNN

A yearlong investigation into whether Clinton administration aides left the White House in fraternity-party disarray as they vacated the presidential premises has turned up about $15,000 in damage, according to a government report released Tuesday.

Rep. Bob Barr (R-Ga.) asked the General Accounting Office last June to look into allegations that Clinton staffers had ripped phone cords from walls, left obscene voicemail messages, defaced bathrooms and vandalized computer keyboards by removing the "W" keys when they left the White House. A number of items, including a 12-inch presidential seal and several antique doorknobs, were assumed stolen.

"The Clinton administration treated the White House worse than college freshmen checking out of their dorm rooms," Barr said Tuesday. ''They disgraced not just themselves but the institution and the office of the presidency as well."

The GAO concluded that "damage, theft, vandalism, and pranks did occur in the White House during the 2001 presidential transition." The report stated that some incidents, such as removing keyboard keys, placing glue on desk drawers and leaving obscene voicemail messages "clearly were intentional," and intentional damage would constitute a criminal act under federal law. No prosecutions are planned, though.

An Oil Painting, The Avenue in the Rain by Frederick Childe Hassam (October 17, 1859 - August 27, 1935)
was among many, many items stolen by Bill and Hillary Clinton when leaving the White House in 2001. ...
This painting was included in the returned items after FBI, and White House Security discovered it missing,
and found it in Bill and Hillary's newly purchased Chappaqua NY home.

And .. the office that Hillary was given in the WH was actually the room that was supposed to be used by the VP .. so, because the new VP was going to be Dick Cheney, they literally trashed everything in the office; wrote horrible stuff on the walls, peed or threw up on everything.

Actually, the TOTAL DAMAGES WERE close to $250,000.00 for all the gross things the Clinton staff did to the WH.

What was needed was to have those staff members arrested for vandalism; and expose it to the public. However, it was never taken care of. I blame Mrs. GW for that .. because she didn’t want to ruffle any feathers.

I’M ALL FOR RUFFLING MORE THAN FEATHERS .. IF VANDALISM IS ALLOWED TO OCCUR TO THE WHITE HOUSE. And, at the least, the DNC should have been sent a bill for the damages.

This kind of juvenile and petty destruction is why I really dislike the DemocRATS.

I agree, but if “This kind of juvenile and petty destruction is why I really dislike the DemocRATS” is the only reason, then you need a new world view and a reassessment on your view of RATS. Just a thought.

I have plenty of other reasons .. I just don’t speak them in public .. and no, I won’t tell you either.

And .. I don’t need to do any “reassessment” of my opinion of DemocRATS either .. because they are who they are .. and they will never change who they are.

They’re mean-spirited, bossy, judgmental, ignorant of what America really stands for .. I could go on and on .. but I’m tired and I just can’t be bothered with thinking about DemocRATS right now.

$15grand was a drop in the bucket next to what the Clinton’s stole outright.

There is a reason why that has never happened, and will not happen.

Treason seems like a pretty good reason for it to happen.

Having more sense than to put a sitting POTUS personally in a position of having nothing to lose is "a pretty good reason for it not to happen."

——No prosecutions planned YET. This is one thing I am hopeful Trump handles——

Your think Trump will prosecute something from 16 years ago in 2000...

I think he will have way more important things to handle than petty crimes...

I know Trump isn’t stupid and knows that the lack of accountability is one of the two main reasons we’re so mad.

Whether it’s from 16 years ago or more recent, he’ll handle it. It may not fit your myopic view but he will...he’s no dummy.

Oh' the irony of calling me myopic....

Can Trump revoke the statutes of limitation on crimes...?

You really think Trump will track down the people who vandalised the WH in 2,000 to hold them accountable...Seriously ?

Honestly, this type of response you gave makes me wonder about Trump supporters...

Some have a serious case of projection...

Popman I said nothing about Trump using the law. That’s your myopia, see?

Nor did I say anything about tracking down anyone from any year. Again that’s your tunnel vision world view. Fwiw that’s the same myopia that prevents some from understanding Trump’s rigid support. Open your eyes.

Btw I am not a Trump supporter, I support Cruz with my money and my time. So you’re wrong yet again due to lacking vision. You’re probably a kid.

How do you suppose Trump will hold someone accountable for a crime 16 years old and pass the statute of limitations.. ? You think he should...

You think these people who are currently unknown will simply step forward because Trump is POTUS?

You’re probably a kid.

In my heart

Cruz or lose

Trump has done nothing anyone expected but he is killing.

Why would you presume that other things he does will suddenly become what you expect?

Yes, your vision is limited to what you expect. You are myopic, as I initially said.

Happy New Year

It was worse than that; the original cost was placed at $225,000. I saw the pictures of what the rooms looked like. And, it was true about the “W” on the computers and typewriters - removed them all and threw them in the trash.

Aside from the above-listed items; the Clinton staff left open and un-eaten pizza .. several pieces of which were squished all over the carpet and the furniture; coca cola was spilled all over the room.

And .. they also targeted the office of the VP; what would be Dick Cheney’s office. The filth they wrote on the walls was appalling; but typical of the Clinton’s attitude toward the WH.

The other irritating issue for me was the Clinton’s treatment of the uniformed officers who served as Sentry/Security staff on the WH grounds and within the WH. Then, because Hillary was caught telling the uniformed officers to carry her bags, etc., her way of retaliating to their complaint was to FORCE them to wear street clothes when working inside the WH.

WHO IN HELL WANTS THAT KIND OF SNOTTY, ARROGANT ATTITUDE IN OUR WH ..?? NOT ME.

And as if that wasn’t enough of a disgrace; when they left the WH, they took a lot of the WH furniture (which was not their property). They were forced to bring everything back. And, the “everything” included several pieces they had taken from the different storage areas for the WH property.

This damage and thievery should prevent the Clintons from even being invited into the WH EVER AGAIN.
