Politico Column: Donald Trump Isn't the Biggest Narcissist in the GOP Field. Ted Cruz Is.
Politico ^ | 12/23/2015 | By CURT ANDERSON

I know a televangelist candidate when I see one.

To hear the pundits and experts in Washington tell it, the problem with Ted Cruz is that he doesn't play well with others in the Senate, he's too hardheaded and doesn't compromise. In other words, he's exactly what the Republican primary voters want.

On this score, I side with the Republican primary voters. If Cruz's problem is that he is a conservative who has no regard for senatorial decorum and fights too hard for the right things, I'm all in.

But there is a far bigger problem with Cruz: Donald Trump is not the most self-absorbed Republican running for president--Cruz is. Whether you like Trump or not (and I don't), at least Trump makes no effort to hide his narcissism. In that sense, Trump is oddly genuine. Cruz, on the other hand, takes great pains to be whatever he thinks you want him to be. And the troubling thing is he's really good at it.

Occasionally, he offers a glimpse of his vanity and his need to be loved -- such as the hilariously painful 15 hours of B-roll footage his campaign put on the Web for use by his super PACs. My favorite part of that footage is the multiple times he and his family practiced the prayer scene before a meal ... once more, with feeling. There is nothing quite as genuine and humble as a rehearsed, made-for-TV prayer.

The other revealing scene is when Cruz is sitting on the couch with his mom and he says, "Not a day goes by that my mom is not lifting me up in prayer." Then mom agrees saying, "It's true." But then, Cruz can't help himself and he adds, "for hours at a time," after which mom can't take it anymore

Believe me, he’s not doing this for the benefit of Ted Cruz.

You know him personally?

Cruz compared himself to Jesus on the Senate floor.

Oh balderdash, give me a link!

Cruz isn't your enemy, back off and support Trump but don't get stupid.

This Anderson person has a mental complex or two or three. Bless his heart, he should write about something he knows as he does not know Cruz.

And p0litic0 can say this when dear leader is often photographed as if he has a halo over his head or has his nose high in the air in an air of superiority just like Musolini?

I see the Alinsky Method is in full operation. Imagine, Ted Cruz is now a narcissist. What happened to a media that fails to make one mention of Zer0, the One Narcissist above all others? Why they behave as the 1984 version of the Ministry of Truth. Somehow that book tweeked their collective minds to embrace doublethink and Newspeak. What a pitiful end for our media to be mired in the Alinsky Method as it rides on into the sunset towards the ashcan of history.

Ted Cruz is the most principled, most constitutionalist candidate in the race.

But Cruz can lie. See here and here.

I will just go ahead and call you a liar now.

When you provide supporting evidence for your outrageous comment, I will be happy to retract my comment.

Cruz, on the other hand, takes great pains to be whatever he thinks you want him to be.

this is consistent with his team's claims that he is data-driven down to the level of the individual voter.

However, when it comes to narcissism, nobody can touch the Clintons. They define narcissism.

Actually Rubio and maybe Kasich fit the Used Car Salesman MUCH BETTER than Trump/Cruz.

...and don’t they read their damn instructions? They ARE NOT to attack Cruz, until Cruz is able to do away with Trump. Not now. PLEASE! Cruz is the ONLY PERSON that can stop Trump from getting the nomination at this point. HE IS OFF LIMITS (until we knock out Trump, of course).

calling some one a narcissist has become a way of stopping political discourse. the term is a description of behavior just as being a racist is a description of behavior. both now are being used to tar and feather people that other disagree with ...calling some one a narcissist has been very successful with people that don’t want to think but want to be told what to think......My question for you how do you defend against being branded a narcissist. you cant because everyone has a bit of them selves that is self centered and everything can be twisted to show that a person is only thinking of them selves. In Politics every politician who makes it nationally has to have either a healthy dose of believing in themselves. theses can all be pointed at ass hallmarks of a narcissist.

If anyone here has contact with conservative media like Hannity or Rush tell them we have to start calling people on the carpet when they try to use term narcissist.

As far as I am concerned it is the same as saying someone is a racist or homophobe because they don’t hold to the same world view.
