This is truly disgusting.
It was land that Trump planned to build a golf course on. He couldn't get zoning/etc. approvals for the development, so he donated it to gain the tax write-off. Given the zoning/approvals issue, the $100 million appraisal is optimistic, at best.
Also, I wouldn't be surprised if Trump wanted his name removed from the thing. The park has been closed for five years, and is not maintained. It's a shambles (I drive by it now and then). Why would he want his name on it?

I’ve been involved in some similar transactions and “normally” we would have what is commonly referred to as a “reverter clause” in the deed conveying the land.
As the moniker suggests, the land would “revert” back to the donor, in this case Trump, if the entity the land was given to (New York) reneged on specific issues spelled out in said “reverter clause”. Trying to change the name of the Park would certainly be one item Trump might have insisted on.
Name it after Robert E. Lee then.
