LOUISVILLE, Ky. âMall St. Matthews was supposed to close at 10 p.m. Saturday for holiday shoppers, but instead it closed more than hour before due to what some may describe as a riot.
âWe started heading towards the exit and we saw larger numbers of teenagers and they started kind of running and congregating in one area, and then all the police, all the security started running that direction and then we decided it's time to head the other direction," said Chuck Hibbs.

There was singing and dancing. Pure chaos. No gifts could be refunded or exchanged until the thespians were thoroughly pepper sprayed.

This mall won’t survive without doing what malls across the country have done, namely ban accompanied minors and have anyone who violates the ban arrested for trespass. It’s a pretty simple thing to do, and it works. The alternative is for shoppers to flee elsewhere with the result that the mall will be forced to close down and be razed.

I'm sure the reporter perhaps was a little squeamish in that all of the rioters looked like her....
but who's counting, right?

malls are dead in areas where ferals can amass in big numbers....which means all of the inner city ones plus the suburban ones where our wonderful tax paid bus system can scoot them anywhere they want.

This mall is already on the Congo Clock.
The time frame from when the first African Art store opens, until the first bulldozer arrives. Tick tock. Tick tock.

Sounds a bit like the University Mall in Tampa, near USF. Long ago, one of the most prestigious shopping centers in the Tampa Bay area, now it's a literally a shell of it's former self. The few stores left are just that, other than Verizon and T-Mobile. Dillards was one of the anchor tenants, they closed up a couple of years ago, and even Starbucks high-tailed it out of there when their lease was up. For all their BS with their "progressive" ideals making the world a nicer place, a successful corporation's gotta do what a successful corporation's gotta do, right?

Odd that you mentioned that mall. I lived on Fowler from 92 to 96. Small world.
