Bump for later.
Good article, but two typographical errors:
1. 46, not 36 chromosomes
2. Santa’s name is spelled “Claus” not “Clause.” (However, his elves may accurately be called “subordinate clauses.”)

Amen, Kaslin, another excellent article. Merry Christmas, FRiend.
Amen and amen.
Some do spell it with a ‘e’ at the end, but Claus is correct. Santa is not a clause
Amen and Merry Christmas to you too, Friend.
What if coming to Christ completely tears your life apart and sets you at odds with family, friends, job, etc.? What if it brings an upheaval and lack of “success”? Is it still worth taking a bet?
Why do I have Steve Taylor’s I WANT TO BE A CLONE ringing in my ears?
Great article! Thanks for posting!!
(However, his elves may accurately be called âsubordinate clauses.â)
that was so clever, it bore repeating...
Ask them “If I am wrong and there is no God, no Heaven, no hell, what have I lost? But if you are wrong, and there IS a God, a Heaven and a hell, what have YOU lost?”
Pascal's wager.
The fundamental fallacy is that precisely the same argument could be offered for an utterly different and incompatible conclusion (e.g. “If the Buddha got it all wrong and you become worm food instead of having the pains of existence dissolved away in Nirvana, no harm no foul” or “If the Koran is just some bronze-age kooky rantings and you become worm food instead of getting your 72 virgins, no harm no foul” or whatever).
And completely ignoring the even larger problem, e.g. “Hey there, I love you. I really do. What do you say, wanna hop in bed?”
With the problem being, G_d is way smarter than a blonde sorority tart.
In fact He’s omniscient ... with the possible exception that He does not know what is engraved in the human heart.
But if you grant that, than you must accept that He is not omniscient.
So `Pascal’s Wager’ is problematic, as well as more than a little meretricious.
I believe Jesus is the Way and that every other way is not. My beef is with silly approaches to evangelism. The old drunk at the mission, when asked if he wanted to accept Christ, was onto something: “No thanks, I have enough problems already!”
Stepping from darkness into the Truth can be earth shattering for a person. So often believing in Christ sounds like all the other junk people do and say “My life has improved 1000% since and all my problems are a thing of the past.”
Christians should just preach the Gospel and trust God to save people through it, no matter how good or bad it seems to turn out afterwards. Jesus is attractive to the downcast and poor in spirit.
“What if it brings an upheaval and lack of âsuccessâ? Is it still worth taking a bet?”
What do you value more? Fleeting success or eternal rewards?
Agreed. It’s THE better choice of all possible choices in this life. Regardless.
Then you're doing it right, according to the Bible.
