I’m for a Trump/Cruz ticket, because they’re the best we have—but Cruz is a total weasel on this. He’s been for amnesty, now pretends that he wasn’t. For months his approach was simply to refuse to answer people on the topic.
He s weaselly.
But if that’s what he was doing (which I don’t believe) he was totally lying to people at the time.
It’s ugly either way,
And Trump was for a legalization without deportation for the non criminals as late as July 24th, 2015.

Yeah, I caught that. One of the things I liked about Cruz was that he’s normally very precise and honest with his statements and arguments. But this interview shows that, at least on this issue, he can deliberately try to obfuscate and deceive, right with the best of them.

One of the CruzBots in panic mode was making this same point, but then they themselves provide an article dated a day later, where Trump mentions deporting all illegal aliens. They tried to spin it as a "flip flop," but Trump not mentioning deportation, nor mentioning letting them stay, is not evidence for a flip flop.

Cruz was trying to force the dems hand. His amendment was there to force the democrats hand and vote one something he knew they wouldn’t pass in an effort to expose their agenda.
It was actually, IMHO, a brilliant piece of parliamentarian maneuvering.
Cruz never wanted to legalize the illegal...he did want the democrats to show their real agenda...and he succeeded.
