Limbaugh praises Cruz's debate performance
Politico ^ | 12/16/15 | Nick Gass

Posted on 12/16/2015 4:13:38 PM PST by Isara

The radio host says Trump did enough to be the other winner of the debate.

Rush Limbaugh lavished praise on Texas Sen. Ted Cruz for his debate performance, calling him an articulate and "happy warrior" of the conservative movement.

"Ted Cruz speaks like a traditional powerful, well-versed proud - unabashedly proud - conservative. He is an articulate representative of conservatism and the conservative movement, and he is a happy warrior," the radio host said during his Wednesday program, according to a transcript.

"He loves doing what he's doing. He loves mixing it up. He loves getting in there. And he is relishing this opportunity to put on display what he believes and what millions of the rest of us believe," Limbaugh continued, remarking that the Texas senator "may have even damaged Marco Rubio a little bit."

Fans of Rubio "probably would be happy with [Rubio's] performance," the radio host said.

As far as Donald Trump goes, for Limbaugh, he did enough to be the other winner of the main event. "You know, Trump did what I thought he would do: He basically shut up," he said, adding that the Manhattan businessman "served himself very well last night."

Limbaugh complimented both Cruz and Trump for eschewing the politically correct "niceties and the details" when discussing the Islamic State, NSA surveillance and fighting terrorism writ large.

"The PC crowd and the moderators say: Well, you can't do that! There are innocent children and civilians and so forth," the host continued, lauding them on their take-no-prisoners style. "I think it's effective. So Cruz and Trump last night, to me, were the winners."

Earlier in the week, Limbaugh commented that Trump "raised a red flag" in calling Cruz a "maniac" on Sunday for his role in the 2013 government shutdown, as well as questioning his temperament. Trump's remark followed a report last week in which Cruz told donors that they should question the judgment of Republican candidates like Trump and Ben Carson.

The damage Cruz inflicted pales to what the weasel did to himself by inferring Cruz released classified data. Cruz will beat the crap out of the big eared putz with this one.

Trump di minimize his comments. In a two way debate there will be no way to hide his lack of depth on issues. If he is the nominee, I hope he will spend some time preparing on the issues a lot more than he does now.

If Cruz is the nomine, no worries. He will clean cankle’s clock so well she may just stroke out.

Cruz had the best moment of the debate when he said that all nine of the candidates present would make a better Commander in Chief than Obama. Mind you, if I were running, I would have included the three thousand spectators.

Rush has always been measured in his praise of any candidate until after the convention is over, but you can really tell that he admires Cruz.

Nothing against Cruz but this “in the weeds” crap is what we’ve had for years. As if knowing the job before you get it..

One suspects that it was a while coming, meaning that El Rushbo took time to analyze all candidates and all debates.

He was especially respectful to Mister Trump, which I appreciated because Trump is (and in some cases, was) so popular in a specific conservative niche (fine folks, all).

PRESIDENT Ted Cruz!

No, what we have had for years are fake conservatives who felt entitled and a corrupt GOPe enabling them.

Cruz has his warts, but so does Trump. Either is preferable to the other side of the aisle.
