I actually believe that after Jeb, Cruz was the GOPe backup candidate all along. Ted burnishes his conservative bona fides in speech after speech and on votes with no results, but then when you pull the covers back, the dots are there for all to connect to the establishment. If the GOPe is capable of just about anything, why wouldn’t they be capable of running their own Manchurian candidate so to speak. Get a guy who looks, talks and speaks conservative, but will at the end of the day, tow the establishment line. Plus, what better way for the GOPe to get back their conservative cred without ever having to be conservative?
