Shortly after Ted Cruz told GOP power brokers that Trump lacked the "judgement" to be president, Kellyanne Conway-- who runs Cruz's Keep the Promise I super PAC– defended RNC plans to strip Trump of the nomination at a brokered convention-- even if he wins the majority of votes and plurality of delegates...

KC: No, it's not cheating.

...

Chris Matthews: The candidate who gets the plurality of votes-- the most votes...should be the nominee?

KC: No, I'd have to look at the math.

He’s owned by PACs and so he’s acting like it. But I have little hope in politicians these days. If Trump gets in and actually builds a wall on the Southern border, that will be a big asset to the country.

How much leverage will the RNC have at a brokered convention? The pledged delegates have to vote for whoever won the primaries/caucuses in each state, so unless they change the rules, only the superdelegates can vote for whomever they please. Superdelegates account for only 30% or so at the convention, I think, which isn’t enough to give Jeb or some other establishment favorite the nomination if he doesn’t win any states.

I think that you aren’t talking about the same thing as what many of us are thinking.

But describing us as a cult of personality isn’t a good way to get us to listen.

Sick?

So a president Hildabeast would be ok with you?

If Trump goes 3rd party that's what we'd be seeing.

One the one hand, despite all the damage Zippy has done (on near-daily basis) to this nation, and then if H elected we would likely still be able to keep on keeping on for what remains of the better that still remains, it is unarguable that if H elected we would still keep losing that (in the very least) incrementally, much as we have been (in the same stupid that H helped Zippy the Muslim with) once she got her plump Her-ness hindquarters Ego in the chair (and her grasping, controlling mitts on our throats).

On the other hand, people (some of us, including most all Trump supporters) do realize that the patient (that would be America) is suffering from metastasizing cancers right now, and are hoping for somebody to save us. The prognosis isn't all that great. Trump is no miracle worker though. He cribs his best notes FROM US (and Cruz, also).

Miracle making? I don't believe that's Trump's bailiwick, but if he goes third party and splits the conservative base, it would be about the only way H could make it into the office she long has thought her due ---- as if she's got it coming, even though things she's tried to do on her own, following her own opinions have reek of failure around them.

Other than herself being successful at destroying people who had the goods on her and her husband, what has she ever accomplished? Being elected Senator of New York State, pretty much on name recognition (and being reliable Dem Party liberal)? Anything else we can think of?

Trump does appear to believe in himself (no matter what) and that he could appoint "just the right people" (Cruz could do as well if not perhaps better in that) and it would be amazing and it would be hyuuuge like the support he's been getting from Middle (aged) America, and the over-the-hill-and-picking-up-speed-America, like guys like me.

If the election goes three-way;
The prognosis for the patient would be --- Double Plus Ungood. True and actual Miracle intervention time would be the only thing that could save us, if we were much salvageable at all beyond bare remnant.

Perhaps I'm speaking over your head.

It’s hard for me to believe Cruz is a real outsider when he hires the same people all the gopE hires.

First, do you know what a cult of personality is? I didn’t invent the term.

Second, if not a cult of personality, what ideological principals does trump represent that are unique to him? Meaning to say, if it’s not about trump, what is it about?

Bob down at the quick trip probably was busy.

Who do you think Trump has working for him, novices?

Clearly, I'm talking about a brokered convention, which is what was actually discussed. Most of the rest of you are chewing on the bait that MSNBC and the rest of the media dangled in front of you.

Yes, I know what a cult of personality is. And even if Trump supporters were a cult of personality, that condescending attitude will never get any of them to change their mind.

Here are the ideological principles that lead me to support Donald Trump.

This election, to me, is a single issue election. Immigration. I’m not just looking at THIS election, but ALL future elections. We know that the Democrats are importing illegal voters for the purposes of fraud, and it’s getting close to the point where the combination of gimmie voters, fraudulent voters, and other trickery will overwhelm law abiding Americans. After that point, we’re screwed. Tyranny or civil war.

And of all the candidates, R and D, Trump is the only one who has even proposed a plan that will reverse this trend. Even if we take everything that Ted Cruz said about the immigration problems facing us at face value—and all you have to do is look at his past statements to see that he may very well be compromised—it’s still not enough.

So here are the possible futures I see.

1: Hillary wins: We’re screwed.
2: Any candidate other than Cruz or Trump wins: We’re screwed.
3: Cruz or Trump win and cannot get a handle on this invasion. We’re screwed.
3: Cruz wins and manages to get his entire agenda implemented, and was telling the truth about everything. We are STILL screwed.
4: Trump wins and was lying through his teeth about everything. We’re screwed.
5: Trump wins and manages to turn this invasion around with his agenda. Then we have a chance.

That’s it. That’s the only thing that matters. Every other issue hinges entirely on this one, because unless we restore the rule of law to immigration, we lose on every other issue. Abortion: we lose. Property rights: we lose. Gun control: we lose.

And that’s why it doesn’t matter how liberal, moderate, conservative, or populist Trump is. Because he is the only candidate in the race who is proposing something that will give us a chance to turn the country back around without a civil war.

But I think that the thing that most of us are angry about isn’t a brokered convention, which would be a problem but not an insurmountable one, but rather the establishment attempting to use a brokered convention to foist off another total loser that no one wants on us.

Yea, that would piss me off too, but no one is actually talking about doing that. The media just loves the idea of drama, so they pushed the story and distorted it to be a desire versus a contingency.

Well, the establishment HAS been talking about doing just that recently, so I guess that it formed a connection.

And you are 100% correct about the media; I find myself dragged into the drama more than I’d like during these high-emotion times.

First, my comment regarding cult of personality wasn’t intended as an insult specifically aimed at Trump supporters, nor a summation of what I believe motivates all Trump supporters. I think it is a human weakness that I have fell into when I was younger. When I hear many Trump and Carson supporters talking, it strikes me that they have succumbed.

Second, thank you for articulating your thoughts concerning your support for trump. Interestingly, it is exactly what I had assumed was motivating many of his supporters. I don’t think its an illogical summation, although I don’t have a high level of trust with Trump.

Trust me, nothing you’ve written was ‘over my head’.
I took objection to your unnecessary language in stating someone should be ‘shot’. It was over the top, and though I strongly wish certain evil people would just drop over, we can’t advocate for anyone to be ‘shot’.

But thanks for your lengthy reply, all of which I am fully aware of and somewhat agree with - I do believe a 3rd party run is ill advised and I pray that is not the path taken.

I started out hoping that Cruz would be the nominee. However, its things like this that push me away.

Boy, have you said a mouthful.

If Ted can't win this thing honestly - by appealing to what the American people truly need and want in a president, then he's no better than the scurrilous dogs in the GOP who've betrayed our trust, time and time again.

There is only one politician I've ever donated my hard earned dollars to, and that's Ted Cruz, but crap like this is making it really hard for me to justify my trust and faith in him.

Full disclosure:

I swung my allegiance over to Trump some time ago, but I never lost any love for Ted. I just think that it's too early in his political career to be angling for the top job. I also firmly believe that things in this country are so far off track, that no one outside of an Iron Fisted Bastard, can force them back on track. The only person in the race who's even remotely capable of doing that, is Donald Trump.
