Steep new penalties for Americans who don't enroll in Obamacare (Pelosi knew)
Fiscal Times via MSN ^ | 12/10/15 | Eric Pianin

After two years of genteel coaxing of millions of Americans to sign up for health insurance under the Affordable Care Act, the Obama administration has begun to turn up the heat with the threat of a sharp increase in tax penalties and other sanctions.

While many people found it far less expensive to pay a penalty than to enroll in a new government-subsidized health care plan, they will be in for a rude awakening if they try that again. In fact, in some ways it will be cheaper to purchase one of the more modest insurance plans than to pay the penalty.

For individuals who went without insurance in early 2015 although they were eligible to enroll, the average household penalty in 2016 will be $969 - a 47 percent increase over the average estimated penalty of $661 this year, according to a new analysis by the Kaiser Family Foundation. People who are eligible for federal premium subsidies will have to pay an average household penalty of $738 in 2016 if they don't sign up, while the average household penalty will total $1,450 for uninsured people who are not eligible for any financial assistance.

There's only one party to thank for all this...

The freeloaders who voted him in thought that they would be able to simply walk into the hospital and get free care without having to do anything. Now that they are going to start getting penalized, I suspect that we are going to have a lot more people not filing tax returns.

One party that crammed it down our pieholes.

And the other that refuses to repeal it.

The government is graciously allowing us to pay $14,000 in premiums with a $6,000 deductible for EACH of my wife and myself.

SO...we pay the first $6,000 each of out medical costs before insurance kicks in a single dime.

As we are responsible adults, eat right, exercise and do not drink or smoke our annual medical costs are less than $1000.

So really what we are paying $14K for is to avoid the catastrophic medical bill. But $14K is a big pill to swallow. I believe that private insurance witout the government overhead could do better.

Take solace in the fact that you are providing Medicaid for the parasitic class.

No, you're paying for the subsidies and those who get it "free"...

A smart working person makes sure that the withholding is minimal. There was no way I would have let the IRS have my money interest free.
