DEARBORN -- As small business owners, many Arab Americans carry guns for protection. However, recent mass shootings across the country have reignited the gun control debate.
Over the past few years, gun violence has claimed many lives in the community. Several suicides, homicides and a murder-suicide were all carried out by guns.
It is not uncommon to see local community members with visible guns at their waists. But while a Lebanese saying claims "guns are the decoration of men", critics say too many lives have been lost to guns in our community and around the country.

Too many ***holes in this country are using radical, Islamic terrorism to pimp gun control. The radical Islamists are going to have guns to kill us whether they are banned in this country or not. I recommend anyone interested in living in a gun free society move to Red China or North Korea.

No right is real unless you can defend it for yourself and those who you love (such as your children.)
The Second Amendment codifies a pre-existing right to defend your life, and the life of your loved ones, against any evil individual or group that would attempt to take life by unlawful means. The security of a free state does not only require that an invading army be able to be repelled.
Security also includes internal threats within a nation whether individual or collective.
The Security of a Free State was violated in San Bernardino just as certainly as it is when a thug breaks into your home in the middle of the night.
There are those who argue that we should have a list of prohibited guns, persons and the like. What those people are arguing is that those persons have no right to either their life or that of their loved ones.
Think about what you’re saying if you hold those beliefs very, very carefully:
You are declaring some people to be so much lesser than you that they do not have the right to live and further, you are declaring that someone else gets to make and update that list which could quite-easily wind up with your name on it. Further, you have managed to collectively get some fifty thousand gun laws on the books of this nation and every one of them, and thus every one of you, has directly contributed to the lack of security of a free state exhibited in San Bernardino and elsewhere.’
For many parts of America, such as CA, where I’m at, we have privileges doled out at the whim of the ruling class, not rights.
Which is why I moved out of my native CA to a somewhat less restrictive NV.....not Vegas or Reno though.
Your earlier post rates a well done. Too bad our remarks are wasted on late night posts. Of course a cut and paste for placement in another thread would solve that deficiency. I hope you do so. My family is in Arizona now for the same reasons you stated. I felt as though I was fleeing a communist stronghold.
Arab American Muslims have just as much to worry about with the invading hordes of ISIS infiltrated refugees. ISIS has no problem murdering muslims in the name of Islam as they do Christians.
Yep. If they are legal citizens they have the same rights as any other citizen. I don’t think muslims in America have to worry about ISIS terrorists as much as non muslims though unless it’s something like the World Trade Centers. Hand guns won’t help in that scenario anyway.
While I’m no fan of Islam I also don’t believe in double standards.
