I agree with you. I thought I thought I read somewhere that he is actually meeting with Trump, and that Bibi would be fine meeting with any candidate who wants to meet with him?

Yes, he will still meet with Trump. I don’t care much what leaders of other countries think of our candidates. I’m sure they were worried about Reagan too.

His Pershing missile stance on European deployment was disliked.

Thanks for the note.

Israel does NOT ban Muslims from coming to or living in Israel,

Important Travel Information

U.S. citizens planning to visit the region are encouraged to note the following important developments:

Palestinian Authority Areas-Only Stamp. Anyone indicating at the Allenby Bridge-King Hussein border crossing that he or she has connections to the West Bank or plans to travel to the West Bank may be given an entry stamp that permits travel only in Palestinian Authority-controlled areas of the West Bank. This stamp does not permit such travelers to enter Jerusalem or Israel. Travelers who have received such a stamp may file an appeal with the Israeli military's district coordination offices in the West Bank, but appeals are rarely approved.

Palestinian-Americans Must Enter Through the Allenby Border Crossing. The Government of Israel does not currently permit U.S. citizens with Palestinian nationality (or even, in some cases, the claim to it) to enter Israel via Ben Gurion International Airport. Many travelers have been sent back to the U.S. upon arrival. Others have been allowed to enter Israel but told they cannot depart Israel via Ben Gurion without special permission, which is rarely granted. Some families have been separated as a result, and other travelers have forfeited expensive airline tickets. If you believe that you may be affected by this rule, confirm with the Israeli Embassy in Washington before departure that you will be able to enter and depart through Ben Gurion. You may prefer to alter your travel plans to enter via the Allenby-King Hussein border crossing. Denial of Entry into Israel or the West Bank

The U.S. government seeks equal treatment and freedom to travel for all U.S. citizens regardless of national origin or ethnicity. Even so, all persons applying for entry to Israel and the West Bank are subject to security and police record checks by the Government of Israel and may be denied entry or exit without explanation. U.S. citizen visitors have been subjected to prolonged questioning and thorough searches by Israeli authorities upon entry or departure. Those whom Israeli authorities suspect of being of Arab, Middle Eastern, or Muslim origin; those who have been involved in missionary work or activism; and those who ask that Israeli stamps not be entered into their passports may face additional, often time-consuming, and probing questioning by immigration and border authorities, or may even be denied entry into Israel or the West Bank.

While the U.S. Consulate General cannot facilitate U.S. citizens' entry into Israel or the West Bank, those who feel they have been wrongly denied entry or unnecessarily subjected to additional security screening should report their experiences to our office or to the American Citizen Services Unit of the U.S. Embassy in Tel Aviv. The Consular Section of the U.S. Embassy should be contacted for information and assistance related to ports of entry at Ben Gurion Airport, Haifa Port, the northern Jordan River-Sheikh Hussein and southern Rabin-Arava border crossings connecting Israel and Jordan, and the Taba border crossing between Israel and Egypt. The Consular Section of the U.S. Consulate General in Jerusalem should be contacted for information and assistance related to the Allenby Bridge-King Hussein crossing connecting the West Bank and Jordan.

Certainly doesn't sound like they don't care what your religion or nationality is either when they're determining where in Israel you can even go, eh?

The only difference is that Israel is a Jewish state, so in order to apply for citizenship, an immigrant must have a Jewish spouse or ancestry.

Mmmhmmm. So what's worse: having an immigration policy that favors a particular race and which makes it really difficult if you are a Muslim to travel in certain areas.

OR

A temporary bloody moratorium on Muslims!?

BTW Mr. Net., how many Syrians are you taking in?

The only difference is that Israel is a Jewish state, so in order to apply for citizenship, an immigrant must have a Jewish spouse or ancestry.

By the way, this is inaccurate. The Law of Return does not deal with citizenship only, but the right to live in Israel in and of itself. If you are any other type of immigrant, even if you have non-Jewish ancestry in Israel, you do not have the right to live in Israel. That is something Israel can approve or deny if it does or doesn't suit their interests.

so Bibi's comments about Trump's proposal are hardly hypocritical

They are. Imagine if Donald Trump declared that we should have an immigration system that gives a right to Europeans to live in the country, preferential treatment and support under the law to gain housing, etc., but declares that you will be treated differently nor will receive the same benefits if you have non-European ancestry.

Trump's proposal, even the border wall, is basically nothing compared to Israel's immigration policy.

I'm not condemning Israel's immigration policy, mind you, or their profiling or any of their policies with regards to Muslims. I would like to import a great deal of, actually!

You seem to have trouble understanding the difference between "Palestianians" and "Muslims"

Israel has restrictions on Palestianian areas. It does NOT, however, ban "Muslims" as a whole from coming to Israel. The vast majority of Muslims in the world are NOT "Palestinian".

Israel accepts certain Muslim immigrants, for example, it granted asylum to 83 Bosnian Muslim families in 1993.

Trump and Nentenyahu disagree on this issue.

Netanyahu has to walk a fine line. What he personally thinks and what he says for Israel’s sake may be two entirely different things.

That's all that took place.   Trump is visiting Israel in a week or two so Bibi felt obliged to issue this meaningless statement

Nope, Israel also worries if you are a Muslim, or if you are a Christian missionary. Yes, they do care what your religion is and you will be treated differently under the law than you would if you were Jewish. Their entire immigration system is designed to benefit the interests of the Jewish state. If benefiting the security and interests of Israel means discriminating based on ethnicity or religion... they do it.

And all Trump is doing is performing what is entirely constitutional to do-- a temporary moratorium on Muslim immigrants.

Is Trump calling for Israeli style immigration? Nope. What he's doing is insignificant in comparison.

I know some Orthodox Jews from Jerusalem. They think that the islamics and Jews are brothers. They fights, but they still love each other. That’s from the old Isaac vs Ishmael talk.

Sadly, the typical Jew *will* be closer to an Islamic than to a Christian. They consider the Trinity to be idolatry and the Islamic stuff just a ‘wrong’ retelling, but less dangerous than Christianity.

That’s how it really is to them. Even though one side supports them and one sides wants them all dead.

That’s my read as well. He doesn’t want protests in Israel and I don’t blame him or his government. Situations are what they are.

Trump endorsed Bibi in his last run for office. He hasn’t forgotten that.

Trump is also visiting Jordan.

Around June someone asked me if I’d take a look at him. I told them I didn’t think there was any way I could support him. He surprised me. I liked what I saw, and he’s kept up his end of the bargain so far > IMO.

Hey, he could have gone Left. He went our direction. I thought we were supposed to be happy when folks do.

Take care.

Good to talk to you.

I’m sick of the issue being rewritten before it is ridiculed by everyone. >>>> you do not under stand this is purposeful disinformation. lie about what the person said then criticize them for the lie you made up. that then keeps on going now every one criticizes the lie you made up. you are an upright honest person who thinks these media people are like you. they are not. if anything they are evil.

BiBi says this, and then builds a wall that’s 50 feet high.

This is PR window dressing, BiBi’s actions suggest he not only follows Trump, he led him there.

“Good to talk to you.”
Same to you. We’re still hanging in here:)

A head fake to the left. My take is Netanyau saw a cheap, easy way to score some politically correct Pokemon points with the Jewish left here and in Israel. On another day he would not have bothered.

For election strategy Trump should not suck up to Israel. This will lose him votes across the political spectrum. I go to places like Unz.com where I see lots of Israel haters who will vote for Trump. I am sure that Trump will be in Israel’s corner after he gets elected

Also Netanyahu rules one million Arabs so they are marginally happier now that he dissed the big bad Trump....ya think?...maybe?...who knows or cares.
Too bad this fluff incensed so many Freepers.

I agree, but it’s par for the course. Trump has made it very clear he will support Israel.

I think he sees it like we do, one little berg in literally 10s if not 100s of thousands of square miles of Arab land.
