About 160 Syrian refugees will be arriving at Toronto's Pearson airport this week as the Liberal government attempts to fulfil its pledge to welcome 10,000 by the end of the year.
Immigration Minister John McCallum told reporters at a news conference on Wednesday morning that there are 11,932 applications in process from refugees who want to come to Canada and 1,451 visas have been issued. Most of the 10,000 refugees arriving by the end of the year will be sponsored by private groups and Canadian citizens.

Just in time for Christmas.
May as well be a shipment of bed bugs. They’ll want to get rid of them, but can’t find them all.
Did they fly first Class? Free booze and pork chops?
Looks like a near relative to numerous species examples in most zoos.
NO MORE MUZZIES!! WE have too many already.
Will they support the Leafs or the Habs?
FReeper Pop Quiz. Is Toronto’s newest citzen, Angry Muslim Guy:
a) singing “O, Canada”
b) singing “Let it Go” from Frozen
c) singing “My Heart Will Go On” from Titanic
d) screaming “Jihaaaaaaad! I keel you!”
Hmmmmm....I think he’s forming the word “let” from “Let it go.”
Busloads of Pakistanis come to the Walden Galeria Shopping Mall in Cheektowaga, NY a few miles from the Canada/USA border. The buses return to Canada empty.
Plane loads of healthy, fit, well-fed “refugee” males-like the ones who went to Paraguay or Uruguay (I forget which) as “refugees” and were indignant that the government and their neighbors actually meant it when they said they’d give them jobs, lol. Their neighbors got tired of them sponging off them, the “refugees” considered themselves above working a job, so they left. Some “refugees”!
WTF?
“Surrender Pronto or we’ll level Toronto!”
Only 20 percent from Syria ?
Will justine true dough greet them all with flowers and keys to a brand new car?
Yes I agree with this concept. I live just across the St. Mary's River from Michigan in Ontario. Woe betide anyone with any deceptive attempts at entry into Chippewa County. Trouble is the amount of river traffic between the two nations. Usually it is astute citizens on both sides who give the heads up to the border authorities.
On another note as I see the local University all pumped up for a sponsorship of Syrians, we have our own housing problems. Large public housing projects have emerged. The wait time for affordable public housing is 3-5 years! Private decent accommodation is quite expensive.
Yet accommodation will be found for "refugees". The average low income Canadian sometimes hard put for a decent abode here. 150 homeless accounted for. Yet the usual glad handers and greeters will be on hand for photo ops- for the big welcome. Anyone who carps like myself will be designated having certain phobias. (laughs)
hey , Trudeau has the same stare as that guy
Why aren’t the Glow-Bull Warming people up in arms about flying them into Toronto rather than putting them on a raft with a sail to use all that free renewable wind energy?
Send them straight to Trudeau’s house.
You’re a poet and didn’t realize it.
