Ted Cruz: ‘I do not agree’ with Trump’s Muslim moratorium
WashTimes ^ | 12/8/15 | Seth McLaughlin -

GOP presidential contender Ted Cruz said Tuesday that he disagrees with rival Donald J. Trump's plan to ban Muslims from coming into the United States until the federal government can ensure that those coming into the nation do not pose a threat to the country.

"I do not agree with his proposal," the Texas senator said at a press conference on Capitol Hill. “I do not think it is the right solution.”

Mr. Cruz said that some have encouraged him to criticize Mr. Trump, but said he will not to so. Instead, he said he is pushing solutions aimed at putting a three year moratorium on refugees from Syria and Iraq, and giving governors more power to stop refugees from being resettled in their states.

Mr. Trump has tangled with most of the candidates in the GOP field ..with the exception of Mr. Cruz .. though he warned at a rally in South Carolina that he will respond in kind if Mr. Cruz attacks him.

I’m responding to a series of posts. Context has meaning.

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to say that if you have a deity, call him Frffv, who is constantly telling you to slay people ruthlessly without limit, he has to be a cosmic meanie with a chip on his shoulder. Of course this Frffv is the Islamic Allah.

If I told you that I am God's prophet, that you should follow me, and that you should slay anyone who refuses to accept my revelations, what would happen to me? Shouldn't I get locked up?

You could try that as an opener.

As President, Trump does have the power to stop immigration.

Your post is truly despicable.

Ted Cruz may have just lost Iowa.

Iowa is still a ways off, but I think you're right.

I’m probably going to get bashed for this (great opener, huh?) but here goes:

I disagree with people who are saying that they “liked Cruz until now, but this changes everything” and words to that effect. I realize how important the issue of Muslim immigration and/or refugees is to our security. I’m not saying Trump is wrong and Cruz is right. But isn’t there any room for discussion at all? Could Trump’s plan be overkill, sort of like the way the TSA treats everyone as a terrorist at the airport checkpoints? We can’t distinguish any Muslim who is not a threat? Again, I’m not attacking anyone’s position, but, less than 24 hours after Trump announced a very bold proposal, everyone here is already in perfect lockstep and ready to dump Cruz for not getting on the bandwagon?

Let’s say for the sake of discussion that I accept that Cruz is wrong. Even so, I’m not going to dump him as a candidate because he is wrong on one policy question. It’s not like he’s taking a completely idiotic liberal position of letting ‘em all come in and shouting racist at the opposition.

Please, I’d like to hear some reasoned argument.

Beginning to worry that Ted Cruz has been infected with the Establishment’s “We Can’t” sickness.

You know, we can’t stop Obamacare; we can’t stop illegal immigration; we can’t shut down the government; we can’t oppose Obama’s agenda…. etc., etc.

We especially didn’t allow Japanese immigrants during WW2, and that was society whose fanatical and suicidal devotion to their faith bears even more resemblance to jihadists than Nazis do.

In another sense, the jihadists are even more similar to the communists, seeking to infiltrate our country and transform our political system into theirs.

The below article outlines how countries gradually become attacked and dominated by Islam in direct relation to what % the Muslims in their country grow to.

http://archive.frontpagemag.com/readArticle.aspx?ARTID=30675

France let Muslims in to something like 10-15% now and the Muslim birth rate ensures that percentage will continue to grow. They are on the path to civil war. Any non-Muslim country that lets their Muslim population grow will suffer the same fate. It is a guarantee.

The idea that political correctness trumps protecting the country from civil war for almost all our politicians is disturbing and unfortunate. Again we have to ask the question, how many Americans do Muslims have to kill before people will wake up?

In the meantime I see resentment from some quarters that Trump has dared to ask for action in some way. We already know perfection isn’t possible and that foolish administration would result in a lot of leakage. Does that mean it should be hung up?

Islam is a cowardly religion in the face of actual virtue. It does not have the courage to try to get past a truly determined gantlet — it looks for lazy places, fig leaves in place of garments of durable hide.

That*s my position, but without a doubt, Cruz has hurt himself here.

You can look up polls of Mohammedans in various countries, and overwhelming majorities support the imposition of Sharia and other horrors.

So there is plenty of justification for not just a moratorium, but a permanent ban on Mohammedan immigration.

Ted, Ted, Ted! You’re supposed to wait until you take office to turn into a raving Washington soothsayer! Did your donors get their own underwear in a knot?

This is why Donald Trump is the only candidate that’s going to stand up for the American public against all comers. If Trump fails, then so do we.

I love Cruz and I can't support Trump because he does not fear God. However, I disagree with your first statement:

"1) Trump's plan doesn't have a chance"

As long a Trump is in the race, every terrorist attack around the world will increase support for Trump's idea. If we go to the primary or presidential election with no more attacks, then Trump will rightfully take credit with thoughtful people. The orthodoxy of pluralism is being publicly dissected.

Similar to the MSM, you mistake Trump’s rhetoric as circumventing the US constitution.

Immigration is the problem. We cannot afford to assign a FBI agent to watch every immigrant or visa holder from Turkey or Pakistan, yet we continually let them into our country.

Open borders isn’t a solution given the state of the world where a significant portion wants to kill us. If you want to help people in these countries, then do it in those countries, not here.

Spiritual awareness is going to be needed to keep us all from falling down the “liberal” (scare quotes: these are some of the most illiberal folks in the world) rabbit hole.

Regardless of how the media twists what is said or not said by the candidates, bottom line: I trust Cruz more. Does anyone really think ANYTHING of real significance can be accomplished while Obama is still in office? I see the real possibility of Obama throwing a temper tantrum and trying to ban CHRISTIANS from travel/immigration rather than muslims. That sounds crazy, but it’s NOT unlikely coming from him. He doesn’t care that Christians are being martyred all over the world and we certainly won’t get an executive order we like or support from him. Conservatives have to stand strong and steady the next year or things will go from bad to worse. Cruz understands that. The legislation in the House today is a good, and Cruz’ and Paul’s Senate proposal is workable as well.
Things like bills attached to must-pass legislation don’t get media attention, but they are significant steps that can be accomplished NOW. Cruz, Paul and others are in the trenches working to help protect Americans this week, this month and this year, regardless of what 2016 and 2017 may bring.

Be careful....you might get the Twister Scorecard thrown at you for saying things like that ;-)

How appropriately named! That 'Twister Scorecard' needs to be rolled into a fine tube and rammed up that poster's backside.
