Don’t forget to thank Jimmy Carter, too.
Probably more like putting on a batting helmet that's several sizes too big, and then having Mark McGuire hit you with a bat.
A separated protection away from the body may provide some protection if it dissipates the energy over a wide area. I see no protection for a child that a body-close ‘blanket’ would provide to a child. To me the sheer shock and force of a high powered bullet striking a child, regardless of penetration, may be enough to kill them.
I just had to laugh at that. I feel that way about some of my Garand black tips.
Hey Mr. Shooter... can you wait a moment while I get my special blanket out ?
WTF!!!!
Who comes up with these nutzy ideas!!!
I posted it on my FB page the other day with an added sentence:
....and wearing body armor...................
Hey, it’s like the movies where the bad guys only attack the hero one at a time, even though they’ve got him surrounded.
Duck and cover doesn’t protect against bullets. Duck and cover only protects you against nuclear bomb attacks and radiation death (coming soon to America thanks to Obama/Iran). .
This has to be the dumbest idea I've see this week.
A. There is no way the blanket is going to dissipate the force of a projectile.
B. It assumes a shooter wouldn't simply lift the edge of the blanket.
Students would be more likely to survive by throwing their desks at the shooter.
Think of the money they would save in buying blankets by passing a law legislating the GUN FREE ZONE signs on schools be made twice their present size so the killers could better read the sign! /s
They are like anti ballistic missiles vs. ICBMs— not particularly effective but why not take preventive measures if you can? In addition to bigger offensive weapons. All of the above and damn the busybodies.
What a waste of money and time. Soft armor won’t stop rifle rounds or even hot pistol rounds like 7.62x25mm from a Romanian Tok.
Congrats on making your kids a stationary target.
Oh yee of little faith... /sarc
Even after the Sandy Hook shooting, the Newtown voters rejected a budget for increased security.
Actually looks handy for duck and cover in event of a bomb dropping nearby.
I saw a picture of them on kids yesterday, totally useless with an active shooter even if you have time to deploy the blankets, you just have to yank them off and shoot, how stupid. But you are right there is $$$ to be made from the wussie crowd.
I still want a bullet proof
sign saying;
GUN FREE ZONE.
C. Even if they could stop a bullet, are they expecting the students to carry these blankets with them every moment they’re in school? Shooters generally don’t alert you when they’re coming.
Hold the red square blankets against that bulletin board and they’d be camouflaged.
