The Bodyguard Blanket, made by a company called ProTecht, is a "bulletproof 5/16-inch pad made from the same materials used by our military." Sounds like a useful tool for civilians in a war zone, right?
Except that's not who it was created for. Its being marketed to American "children of all ages," or rather, their concerned -- and not entirely crazy -- parents.

Might be a good item to have in your go bag.
Play period just ain't what it used to be...
I saw something recently (can’t remember where) about a backpack that has a bullet proof/resistant panel in it. You can hold the pack in front of you for some protection of head/chest & if on your back while running away, it gives some protection.
Hard to imagine a shooter either not noticing someone wrapping in a blanket and getting angry about it, or not being able to defeat the blankey.
How about a Kevlar teddy bear?
FYI
Have a large bucket handy if you watch the Huffpo video.
And they would be completely useless. But hey, there’s dollas to be made.
Can’t they just teach kids to duck and cover under their desks like their grandparents had to do in the 50s and 60s?
A teacher or better yet, GROUP OF TEACHERS returning fire would be much more effective.
Thanks islam....... and OBAMA!
A shooter would never notice those bright colored yoga mats at all.
Very doubtful it will stop a rifle bullet.
Those aren't guns!
This is a gun and will get you expelled from school.
Bullet proof blankets now being sold for kids to use during school shootings . Shootings in same category as Power outage ?
Probably better to throw the blanket over the shooter and take him down...
Oh Geeeeez...I wish I had come up with that idea.
They need those Harry Potter blankets that make them invisible.
They had this on TV a long time ago when Kevlar first came out. CNN’s Elsa Clinch (sp?) had a segment on bullet proof clothes for kids including floppy hats. Can you imagine the force of impact taking a bullet in a floppy Kevlar hat? Even if it doesn’t penetrate it is akin to putting a batting helmet on and having Mark McGuire hit you with a bat.
This is paranoia and media sensationalism.
Might be a good item to have in your go bag.
So would this........................
