House set to tighten restrictions on visa-free travel to the US in response to Paris attacks

Legislation denying visa-free travel to anyone who's been in Iraq or Syria in the past five years is set for a vote in the House on Tuesday and is likely to pass by a wide bipartisan margin. The bill also makes a series of other changes to the visa waiver program, which allows citizens of 38 countries to travel to the U.S. without a visa for stays of 90 days or less.

"A radical with a French passport or a Belgian passport can get on a plane in Brussels or Paris today and come to America no questions asked, be here for 90 days, without us knowing any better," House Speaker Paul Ryan said Monday on The Big AM 1380, a radio station in Janesville, Wisconsin.

What I want to know, is under a POTUS Trump, if Obama and Jarrett leave the country will they be permitted to come back? If not then Trump has my vote. I like this plan.

Agreed. I’d include Pakistan, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Oman, Morocco, Algeria, Libya, Jordan, Lebanon - “...until we know what’s going on”, as the Donald said.

I’m seriously shocked that we allow people into this country without even a visa. I can’t go to Canada without a passport now and we just let them in?

The thing that people that knock Trump dont get, is that he can take this “heat” today. This is an investment position.

ISIS will hit again. Guess who people will then have to acknowledge as the one that actually had the foresight to take the right position, and who were the ones opposed to it?

Trump also got the left off of their BS “ban guns” rhetoric, and got the issue back on Islam.

It’s like when I was arguing with a leftist a couple of weeks back after Paris, and he was trying to go on about how so-called “Christian terrorism” was a bigger threat because of that Planned Parenthood thing.

I told him that while you on the left can make a noise about some crazy old fool in the woods for a few days and call him a Christian, you at best have a one-off incident. I on the other hand know ISIS will keep striking multiple times over the next few months, and you guys will find yourself stupidly on the wrong side of this.

Again, that was BEFORE what happened in California.

Everyone needs a passport to come here. There are a number of countries, mainly European, with whom we have reciprocal agreements - they can come here without a visa and we can go there without a visa.

Trump has had amazing timing in the past. After Kate was slaughtered by an illegal Trump was validated.

Another attack and Trump’s position will be standard.

I agree with Trump, however he probably should have said a “moritorium” on the enterance of Muslims. That way the media as they are doing now would have a harder time chopping it up. They leave the part out that says until we get things figured out.

Because they don’t intend to limit visa, it’s just a symbolic action as usual to make you feel good. In the bill, a program allows other countries to visit US without visa,if they stay for 90 days. That means anyone can over-stay without question asked. Another way of importing terrorists, that’s how they lie to you.

Why limit it to Iraq and Syria?

Because that way it won't do anything.

Legislation denying visa-free travel to anyone who's been in Iraq or Syria in the past five years

What a toothless joke of legislation.

This is nothing but security theater by the usual suspects.

Bath House will never sign it anyway.

A total ban on ANY type of muslim travel into this country is needed.

That’s what I’m thinking.

They can’t vet the people anyway. They’ll just say they are from Mexico and the traitor in chief will let them in.

Great point, about Trump getting the left off of their ridiculous gun grabbing rhetoric.

Trump is ALREADY leading the country!

That’s a long way from Trump’s proposal to deny entry to any Muslim’s whatsoever. So no, it’s not agreeing with Trump.

All immigration from muzzy countries must be stopped at once. Travel from and to must be severely restricted.
