A New Hampshire veteran is upset after school officials asked him to remove the word "Christmas" from an annual town tradition.
John Fletcher, the commander of the American Legion in Marlborough, New Hampshire, wrote an editorial in the local paper after he said the superintendent barred him from promoting the event to students unless he changed the name of the event.
"I was very upset, I really was," Fletcher said. "If it's not a school sponsored activity, I don't understand why 'Christmas' had to come out of 'Christmas Tree'."
Fletcher, who also raises money to buy gifts for children who attend the event, said a few days after Veterans' Day, Superintendent Robert Malay called him and said Fletcher needed to "revise" a flyer that would be handed out to students.
"He wanted me to change it to say "holiday tree lighting" instead," Fletcher told FOX25. "It's not a holiday tree, it's a Christmas tree. If you want a holiday tree, then do it for Valentine's Day, or Columbus Day, or whatever you want."

No. Call the school board members and tell them if he isn’t fired, then you will start a campaign to replace them at the next school board election with people who will reflect the values of the community.
Power in in the hands of the voters. The school board, who hires the school administrators, is elected by the community.
If we would hold the school boards responsible, then things would change.
Pass out the “holiday tree” flyers. Then, at the actual event, make a big deal out of making crowd realize and admit that it is a Christmas tree and that this bureaucrat thinks they are too stupid to know that.
Trump would know what to say. Invite him!
I would leave the flyers alone and not promote the event in school.
Other religions and nonreligions do not light “holiday trees” for Dec 25th

I certainly hope this idiot reports to work on December 25 since it’s a Federal Holiday called Christmas Day and he would have no reason to stay home.
He certainly should stand by his convictions—— and that would be an admirable thing.
Tell them “as soon as you give me a list of banned words, including Ramadan”
Make up new flyers that say
“Due to the fact that this school wishes to violate our constitution, violate our free speech, and prevent us from celebrating Christ’s birth, We ask that no one attend the event being put on by the school to send a loud and clear message that we will NOT tolerate religious suppression in this country- Our constitution protects our right to freely express our religious beliefs, and this vile school wishes to violate on that right”
Whenever I see Holiday tree, or parade, etc... I always ask: “what Holiday is it?”
It is illegal for a public actor to censor words because they have religious connotations. Period. He should be charged, tried and convicted for violating the rights of Santa Claus.
