In response to Obama likening the Syrian refugees to the Pilgrims it occurs to me that when the Pilgrims arrived in what is now Massachusetts they were unwanted, built communities on land that wasn't theirs, called the locals "savages", refused to assimilate, practiced their own laws, imposed an official state sponsored religion, forcefully converted local residents, flooded the land with more and more immigrants, imposed their will through force and intimidation,fought various wars with the locals until the locals were marginalized and their way of life was destroyed.
It would appear that Obama perfectly understands what he expects from the Syrian "Pilgrims".

Savage was used back then as a term for a group that did not have a written language. It is referenced in our earliest geography books....c 1790-1810
WE support them with housing, food, clothing, etc., but the Saudis—who won’t take them—will provide $$$ for mosques: indoctrination, training, armory, etc.

The 'local residents' were more effected by disease brought by the Europeans than violence. And the Europeans did coexist with the locals quite nicely.
100 Pilgrims at war with the Wampanoags? They were vastly outnumbered. Thus we have the Pilgrim-Wampanoag peace treaty of Apr 01, 1621.
According to the treaty, if a Wampanoag broke the peace, he would be sent to Plymouth for punishment. If a colonist broke the law, he would likewise be sent to the Wampanoags. Doesn't sound much like war.
Unless, of course, you were being ironic/sarcastic on purpose.
