OK...Trump back on the upswing. He's at 29 today after bottoming out at 28 yesterday. Ben back on the upswing. But Reuters is up to their shenanigans again the last few days. Sample sizes as follows: (146, 215, 279, 367, 358). When you do a 5 day rolling, it's about 1100 respondents, but I'm not sure that is what Reuters is doing, as you can't change the filter past the 27th, although they have data points for the 28th and 29th. Key point is that Trump is still up by 12 and everyone seems to be going through some ups and downs due to small sample sizes. The likely voter sample is even crazier with Trump at 29-19 over Rubio with Ted at 15 and Carson at 11 with a sample size of 102. Not sure how good any of this poll is. We'll give it a few days to smooth out and see.

Sample size is putrid.

Definitely shenanigans. When Trump was polling between 38-42, they were doing like 1,000 to 600 people polled a day. Now it’s down to 140, 200, with a high of 350? Wow.

Sorry...my math skills are bad...that’s a sample of 1365, and to think I’m in finance!

did a google adn found some great tidbits in an article:

• The Wall Street Journal, Oct. 30, 1979: “Douglas L. Hallett, former aide to Pres Nixon, claims Ronald Reagan’s decline in opinion polls and his inability to attract support of opinion-leaders suggest there are strong doubts regarding his ability to confront tough foreign and economic problems.”

• The Washington Post, Jan. 12, 1980: “Reagan to Keep a Low Profile Despite Slipping in Iowa Poll”

• The New York Times, March 12, 1980: “Nearly 1/3 of Democrats and Republicans polled after they leave polling places [in Florida] rate Ford a better candidate than any of Republicans in race.”

• In December 1979, The Economist warned that Barry Goldwater’s 1964 defeat “underlined the old warning that candidates easily nominated are by no means those with the best chance of being elected.”

• In Feb. 1980, Washington Post political reporter Haynes Johnson wondered whether Reagan’s “loyal legions will stay with him to the end, and if so whether they will be able to avert a final crash.”

• As late as March 2, 1980, Gerald Ford said, “Every place I go and everything I hear, there is the growing, growing sentiment that Gov. Reagan cannot win the election,” and we “can’t afford to have a replay of 1964.”

The 5 day rolling was over Thanksgiving, Black Friday and a busy travel weekend.

You’ll need to wait a week for things to smooth out. Sample sizes are low because the last thing most people want to do on Thanksgiving is talk to pollsters!

We will just have to wait and see. Either the polling is unreliable because of low sample sizes over Thanksgiving weekend or the bad news cycles over the last week have chipped away at some of Trump’s soft support.

Either way, Trump needs to stay on message and not get sidetracked into irrelevant controversies. Every day he defends himself about muslims cheering 9/11 is a day wasted in the news cycle he’s not talking about building his wall and bringing back jobs to this country.

Great news....this means Trump’s numbers are actually higher, if they’re using the smaller sample size.

Thanks.

I say if people like Reuters is reporting these numbers that they are probebly even STRONGER in Trump's favor then we're being told.

I say that because an awful lot of people that I talk to who either voted for Obama, or have never supported a Republican, say they favor Trump.

It's a strange phenomena but it's happening. That's why the media remains puzzled and combative of Trump.

Carson at 17%? That’s about 1 in 6. Nobody I know.

But then, I’m sure I’ll run into somebody for Carson - just a matter of time. It’s like I’ve been flipping a coin, and it landed on tales for 100 flips in a row. I’m sure the next 30 coin tosses will land on heads to make up for it.
