Overheated New York Times Warns of 'Catastrophic Events' if Paris Climate Talks Fail

Hyperbole much? The New York Times brought predictably alarmist and overheated coverage to the international climate talks in Paris, while lauding President Obama's attempt to make a legacy fighting "global warming." Environmental Reporter Coral Davenport gushed: "On Sunday night he arrives in Paris, hoping to make climate policy the signature environmental achievement of his, and perhaps any, presidency."

In a later story she warned "If the talks fail...then nations will continue on a trajectory that scientists say locks the planet into a future of rising sea levels, more frequent floods, worsening droughts, food and water shortages, destructive hurricanes and other catastrophic events."

That last quote is from a virtual op-ed Davenport wrote in the guise of a news story for Monday's front page,"As Climate Risks Rise, Talks In Paris Set Stage for Action."

I believe it was Cal Thomas who once said that every morning he read the Bible and the NY Times so he would know what each side was up to.

if the NYT would only finally go out of business, it would help relieve global warming by reducing the sheer abundance of fuel (lousy newspapers and all the manure people burn to stay warm)

Boy, they're sticking to the script no matter what - they're making a grab while the grabbing's good. And under the flimsiest of pretenses I've ever heard.

Good. Liberals hardest hit. Ramp up the CO2 generators.

Hell we should all go to a greenhouse supply and buy a generator on purpose.

You want to see “catastrophic”

Wait and see what happens if that Paris “climate” gathering of thieves and cutthroats succeeds...

Air pollution

Nitrogen dioxide (NO2) sulfur dioxide (SO2) and carbon dioxide (CO2) are all emitted during paper manufacturing. Nitrogen dioxide and sulfur dioxide are major contributors of acid rain, whereas CO2 is a greenhouse gas responsible for climate change.

Must shut down paper mills. Newsprint causing global warming.

A perfect setup....No matter what we do, there is absolutely no way we will ever be able to prove that we changed the course of our climate.

It's all about money.

These people are shameless. There is not one of these apocalyptic predictions that has come true. Not one. In fact, the best way to examine the whole farce is go back and read their predictions from 20 years ago. Zip, nada, not one has come true despite how exciting they all seemed at the time. They have been wrong at every turn and the best they can do is promise it would be a couple of degrees warmer if we don’t give them all our money. First off - it’s not warming and the evidence is clear and second - big damned deal - a few degrees warmer would change nothing! More carbon dioxide? No problem - it’s better for plants!

It amazes me how many people are so caught up in this scam. If we wasted 1/10th the time, energy, and money on real world problems imagine how much better life would be!

They are carnival hucksters - pure and simple. Sadly, they are not just going to fleece the little old lady who wants to lose weight - they are going to fleece all of us and our children of billions or even trillions of dollars.

Pulp manufacturing is probably as dirty as oil drilling. It pollutes air and water and consumes massive amounts of energy. It’s way past time to ban newsprint.

All this hysteria and bringing the blood to a boil can work up a good appetite for caviar, Premium Wagyu Kobe Beef, Beluga caviar, Coffin Bay King Oysters, Fourchu Lobster, Fugu, and Egon Muller-Scharzhof Scharzhofberger Riesling. The sky is the limit for these world leaders training themselves on how to be the elite class over their subjects. Their ultimate cuisine is money and the smell of it. The citizen be damned.
