France, Russia, Syria, Iraq, NATO and numerous other countries are insisting Turkey close their border with Syria.

Yet, they refuse.

It would strangle ISIS and Al Nusra and strengthen the Kurds.

Such is the hatred Turkey has for the rest of the world.

But a Turkish official quickly pointed out to The Wall Street Journal the irony in Washington's call to close off the border, given the U.S. is completely unable to stop flows in and out of Mexico. Doh!

The Russians already did that. First time Obama met them in 2009, none of the Russian delegation, led by Putin, would shake Obama's proffered hand. Guess they knew where that hand had been.

From what I understand, crude oil is being smuggled out of Syria into Turkey by the ISIS. ISIS is using the revenue from the oil to fund their military operations. ISIS is also using Turkey’s border to move foreign fighters in and out of the war zone. Russia knows that if they destroy the oil tankers trucking oil out of Syria, it destroys ISIS’s ability to fund their operations. So, Russian jets are hitting these oil trucks along Turkey’s border. Turkey will try to shoot down Russia’s jets if they can. ISIS oil into Turkey benefits Turkey too. It is the old “follow the money” thing.
