Russian and Syrian military have killed terrorists in the search area of the downed Russian Su-24 jet, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Thursday.

"The moment our pilot was in safety the area was heavily bombed by the Russian Air Force and shelled by Syrian government forces artillery," ministry spokesman General-Major Igor Konashenkov told a media briefing.

He stressed that terrorists and other "mysterious groups" were killed in the assault.

The Russian Air Force base in Latakia has been reinforced with an S-400 SAM system, which was deployed on Thursday.

"Now we are going to ensure the safety of our planes fighting against ISIS militants and other terror groups by taking more reliable measures," Konashenkov said.

From RT with standard embellishment, however it confirms S400 system. We'll soon see how good it is.

Seems the Russians now have TWO in the area.

Twitter pics this morning show a single S-400 launcher in Latakia, where the radars were pre-positioned when the Russians first moved in.

The other is on the Moskva, offshore.

Kinda brilliant, actually.
There can’t be any “Accident” or “rebel attack” excuses if the Turks target a Russian Man-of-War at sea.

You are correct, Russian warships (and aircraft) can operate inside the 12 mile limit legally by treaty with Syria. All other nations commit an act of war, if they send an asset or munition into that Syrian territory, and are unprotected from a military response.

Russian warships deployed to this area likely mount the P-800 Yakhont, another high end Mach 2.5 weapons system designed to destroy capital assets.

If wars are not fought ruthlessly, with the intention of humbling the enemy, then there is little point.

This is not a football game, with referees and time-outs.

Not even much time to remain in a huddle. Some things require a very short response time.

Turkey has shown they do not particularly like the Russians, but this is hardly a recent development. Eggshells are as deadly as land mines, and there is sometimes no way to tread lightly.

I was wondering at those “other” elements involved in the sweep through the area where the second plane was downed.

Yep, what the article doesn't specifically mention is that the reduction of terrorist in the area is helping the Kurds control and eliminate cross border arms supplies to the ISIS terrorists.

The Kurds have been begging for US help while Obama shines 'em on and allows the Turks to bomb the crap outta them.

No more, with the Russians there backed by the S-400, so the Kurds supply the Russians with intel and they themselves, intend to close the border crossing completely to arms and ISIS infiltrators no matter which way they intend to go (France take note).

Obama's plan is hitting snags that only WWIII will smooth out.

Agreed, war has one rule: Win, absolutely.

Second plane? Are you referring to the Russian military rescue helicopter, or am I behind on updates?

Like guns have one rule, to shoot, etc...

We can lose sight of why the war is being waged, why the gun was drawn, etc.

The saddest thing is, WWIII doesn’t absolutely have to happen, in principle even Muslims have a choice, but if it does, it is going to look a lot like “Stuffing the Jihadist genie back into its bottle.”

However we also need to deal with those who had been coaxing it out.

With the entire Western Enemedia press lying and covering for Obama and his IslamoSocialist Rats, the Kenyan will be able to eventually launch a US military attack on a Russian capital asset, and Putin will respond in kind.

Obama has already established that he may act unilaterally without the knowledge or approval of Congress or the courts. He will get no resistance from Republicans, the States or the Military.

The only question is: will the Russian weapons work as advertised.

If so, Obama will have achieved his goal from his taxpayer supplied bomb shelter. The elimination of White Christian resistance to world Islam and Sharia.

I don’t think Turkey will be conducting anymore bombing raids into Syria. The Kurds can sleep peacefully now.
