What Will Capitulation of the GOP Establishment Look Like? (enjoyable article)
ricochet.com ^ | 11/25/15 | Michael Stopa

It looks increasingly likely that Donald Trump will be the Republican nominee for President. He has led in the polls for four months, he has more money than all the other candidates combined in spite of which he is the beneficiary of seemingly limitless free media, and his campaign rallies have the excitement of rock concerts.

As my co-host Todd Feinburg and I discuss in this week’s Harvard Lunch Club Political Podcast, Trump is rolling on. And that no doubt precipitates PVCs from many of the elites on the right (not to mention utter hysteria from everyone on the left).

So my question is this.

Assuming that the Trump trajectory continues on its merry, ballistic way through Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina, and on through "Super Tuesday," what, exactly, is the capitulation of the GOP establishment going to look like if and when Trump begins rehearsing for his acceptance speech in Cleveland?

No, the conservative elites have made a big mistake.

We're including George Will in that group?? Krauthammer? Karl Rove? The Wall St Journal??

I don't think that word means what you think it means.

GOPe won’t give up nor will it capitulate even a whimper.

They are, in fact, as devious and as destructive as liberals and Democrats. But they have preferred the different tack. They dissemble, they lie and they scheme in their second-tier power to enrich their crony donors, CoC PACs and lifelong Tsarist Families of the Right. Power (appeasing, but power nonetheless) with the end goal of enrichment. Quislings all.

Trump has revealed what many have known for some time. The GOPe and Dems are two sides of the same coin; designed to keep the elites in power. Any enmity between them is a fiction, a play, for the voters so they think they have a choice. Meanwhile, year after year, decade after decade, the middle class declines, debts build, and the elites such as the big banks get bailed out with billions for their misdeeds.

Now Trump comes along and ruins everything for the elites. He’s not owned by them. He won’t cower and beg forgiveness when criticized by the MSM mouthpieces of the elites. He’s an unknown factor in their equations to maintain power; which is the only thing they want; and they hate him for that.

Will was wrong about Reagan winning in 1980, and Rove about Romney losing in 2012. The annoying GOPe pundits will do what their leftist counterparts do, go underground for brief period, and then reappear spouting the same nonsense.

Capitulation won’t happen. What will happen- their guys will be appointed in a Trump administration to key spots to ‘moderate’ Trump’s policies and thereby negate a Trump victory.

The 12 million have got to go

If only 12 million illegals go, what are we supposed to do with the other 20 or so million that are already here?

I agree, they'll sabotage Trump w/ everything they've got!

By their fruit you'll know them.

I still expect the RNC/GOPe to pull some shenanigans to nominate their guy even if Trump sweeps the primaries. Remember, the nomination is the prize, not the election. They do NOT want a Republican to be elected. They want one of their own, the on whose turn it is, to be honored with the nomination. None of them, not excepting those who run for president, want to be elected. It is a bore. It detracts from their social and business lives. Evn GW's heart wasn't in it but he did have the grace to accept it when it happened. He didn't actively throw the election as McCain and Romney did, as well as Dole and Ford. I went to one of his speeches and noted that the enthusiasm wasn't there.

I tend to agree. But I do have this comment. During 2008 and 2012 I held my nose and voted for their effing candidates against my better judgment. I am resolute in my position that I will not do that again. I’d sooner see the GOP house of cards burn to the frigging ground first.

The GOPe will sabotage Trump just like the Rockefeller Republicans sabotaged Goldwater after he won the party’s nomination for president.

How many of these so called conservatives mentioned in the article voted for Obama because he was such an “attractive” speech maker? George Will, Charles Krauthammer,Jonah Goldberg, Kevin Williamson, Bret Stephens, Daniel Henninger? We know Krauthammer voted for Obama TWICE! And now, heard Peggy Noonan on CSPAN the other day, she too was enarmoured of Obama. Wouldn’t put it past them to go straight to Hellary this time around as well—

Excellent. They are indeed two sides of the same coin - the Uniparty Globalist Liberals, Inc. (UGLI). What UGLI wants to do is control the central banks, the tax system, the media, academia, the large corporations, immigration, and the military. Any of the social issues are mostly for show - religion, marriage, gender equality, race relations, abortion, environment, etc - to make the sheeple think they have a choice or make a difference.

For UGLI, candidates like Trump or Cruz don’t fit the mold, so they must be driven out, by any means necessary.

Very good article. The writer points out what we all knew:

The hateful, vile rhetoric the GOP elites heaped on Trump (words the Media cabal NEVER used to describe Barack Hussein Obama, Hillary, Reid, Pelosi, et al)because of Trump’s forthright, CONSERVATIVE positions on immigration, foreign interventionism, tax policy, etc., exposed the GOPe for the cowardly statists that they are.

Go Trump!
