Because rarely do jets that get shot down fall strIght down-and the video shows the jet arching down to the ground. In this case the jet continued flying for a while as well.

Uhh huh, so why were the ejected pilots in Syria? Why was the helicopter destroyed by the American TOW missile in Syria? Or do you think the Turks are freely allowing the killer gangs to operate in their territory?

BTW, do you believe that “ at least ten warnings cowshit”? I damned sure do not. Also recall that our Scum-in Chief has F15s flying patrols threatening the Russians too.

I leave feelings out of this. I am address the aviation side, practical applications and challenges of flying in or near contested airspace and the usual practices thereof.

As stated, rarely do jets that get shot down fall straight down-and the video shows the jet arching down to the ground. In this case the jet continued flying for a while as well.

“Ten warnings” is possible as the jet was likely detected on a flight path that would indicate (if they continued) they would enter their airspace, so, yes, not unusual to receive warning calls before entering airspace. Happened all the time during the bad old Cold War days along the IGB and we were ready to shoot them the moment the Soviets or East Germans poked their nose into our airspace.

With the many many times that the Soviets attacked Western aircraft during the Cold War this incident is a bit of karmic amusement. Was reading last month about the locating of the Swedish ELINT DC3 in the Baltic.
