Weeks of tough scrutiny are beginning to take a toll: Ben Carson appears to be fading in Iowa, and there are signs he may be hitting the wall in other early states. A CBS/YouGov poll released Sunday showed Carson slipping below 20 percent in Iowa and to third place behind Donald Trump and Ted Cruz â the first time he's had a rating of less than 20 percent in a major poll there since September.

All of that suggests a challenging road ahead for the retired pediatric neurosurgeon, said Patrick Murray, the director of polling at Monmouth University, which surveys in the early states.

good riddance.
I think the Paris attacks made people get serious and ask themselves if Ben Carson is the guy who can keep us safe.
No surprise here. The more he opens his mouth, the less people find in his head regarding national security and governance.
Go Cruz!
I’m concerned about Trump playing the “I’m taking my ball back and going home if you don’t treat me with respect” card.
I don’t know any FReepers that thought Carson was going to fade... LMAO
Last seen running toward a pyramid wearing a fez.
Indeed. A few gaffes are expected in a public campaign, but when these gaffes are consistently made, they belie a belief system that can't be suppress by good coaching.
A very snart and nice guy but a weak sister politically.
Carson is not fading due to tough scrutiny of content.
He is fading because Post-Paris his supporters want someone more assertive on foreign policy. They don’t want what looks like another lead-from-behind.
Trump, Cruz, Rubio all appear better answers post-Paris.
ineptitude is a dangerous thing...
that bites...
Fake attempt by Junk Media deny their irrelevance.
Carson is fading for the same reason Trump is rising after the 11-13-15 attacks in Paris. People look at him and say “Nice guy but these times require an SOB”
Carson likability numbers haven’t changed. If the Junk Media’s fraudulent attacks on him were the reason he was falling, his negatives would be way up. They are not.
Adios unqualified creepy token!
Iâm concerned about Trump playing the âIâm taking my ball back and going home if you donât treat me with respectâ card.
I agree with you on the Paris attacks. I think the problem at that point became Carson’s demeanor. The American People don’t want calm and studious after such events.
Good bye, and god riddance, I can’t wait to see him knocked off the number 2 spot on stage in the next debate.
I’m concerned about Trump playing the “I’m taking my ball back and going home if you don’t treat me with respect” card...
Why should that bother you? Won’t that make your guy a shoe-in?
No surprise here. The more he opens his mouth, the less people find in his head regarding national security and governance.
Go Cruz!

I doubt his electability. He’s too brash and not a good communicator. I think he’d lose to the Dem.
Not of Trump round third party as he is threatening again. A 3P hands it to Hillary as long as she is unindicted. She may win even with an indictment.
