Syria insurgents destroy Russian helicopter with missile
Syrian fighters destroyed a Russian helicopter with a missile, shortly after they forced it to make an emergency landing in a nearby government-held area in Syria's Latakia province on Tuesday, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.
Rami Abdulrahman from the Observatory, which tracks the conflict in Syria though a wide network of sources, said at least ten people were on the helicopter when it was hit by the insurgents but they were all evacuated when it landed and before the missile destroyed it.

I’m assuming the missile only grazed the helicopter if no one was killed in the incident. Probably thanks to some mad skills on the pilot.

Those Hinds are armored tanks to take a missile hit from a TOW and still be intact enough to land.
This was a rescue mission for the downed Russian pilots shot by Turkish fighters while over DISPUTED territory Turkey claims but Syria never recognized ( had to be a set up since their flight path would have them over that remote area for less than a minute)
who managed to limp back into and bail out over Syria,
then to be executed while parachuting by US backed FSA elements on the ground who used US supplied weapons to down the rescue helicopter and shoot at accompanying press

I read at least one report that the Europeans are saying this is between Russia and Turkey, not an EU or NATO fight
Given that Hollande has gone all-in with Russia vs IS this week, and is flying from a UK base in Cypus, I don’t see the French or even the UK wanting to take up swords against Russia over what may prove to be a setup by Turkey
But again, all subject to revision...

I was referring to the SU-24 shoot down, not the Hind. Same situation, different groups.
Our Terrorist in Chief would love for it to expand to a global event. He wants full out global war before next November. Perfect excuse to declare martial law, cancel the election and confiscate guns.
