What about Trump?

**************

My opinion which isn’t worth a tinkers damn.

....Trump less conservative but more electable....
He fits the mold that more people would vote for on a national level, imo.

“Is JEB going to be seated at the little kids’ table at the next debate now that Bobby Jindal dropped out?”

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Let’s hope so. Yeb! is a distant 5th at best now. Maybe FioRino and maybe Paul can get ahead of him. If there are only 6 at the next debate (I don’t know that number, btw), he could end up at the kiddie table.

I think at that point his backers would pull out, and he would have to as well.

But the debate hosts from now on should get real. There are only four legit contenders now. Everyone else is down in the noise. Let’s make the number four.

The next finalist debate should be Trump, Carson, Cruz, and Rubio.

The winnowing down of candidates has happened.

Myself, I think Trump is less on both counts. BTW, tinker’s dam is not a curse word but a tray for holding the molten solder.

“How big are the crowds in the Cruz rallies?”

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

I attended the one in Greenville. A 7700 seat auditorium was over half full - probably 4000 people. But, IMHO, that had everything going for it to maximize a crowd for him. It was on the campus of Bob Jones Univ, in the most conservative region of one of the most conservative states. It was a Saturday morning, a time accessible to a maximum number of people. It was billed as a “Rally for Religious Liberty”, with a slate full of religious conservative speakers and even choirs.

Don’t get me wrong - it was great and I was impressed. Cruz was actually quite a dynamic, forceful, and credible speaker. He even showed an excellent sense of humor.

But it was not even close to a Trump one-man show on a Tuesday night in a random city which draws 15,000 people.

Cruz sounds good but Trump has that suit of Iron demeanor. After watching Trump interviewed by Oreily last night gives a peek at how Trump would make the leaders of the world head’s spin.

I admit to watching last night......I laughed at the pout Trump has while listening to questions. I was laughing out loud.......also, the white pouches under his eyes look like he wears the eye protection while tanning. Strange.

I like both Trump and Cruz.

Good for Cruz. Good for Trump.

I have a question for the brilliant minds here.

Is it possible that the polls indicate Trump better than he is actually doing because keeping trump in the race is actually good for their ratings? I’m not saying he’s not on top, I just wonder if the media sees any actual benefit to trying to help him stay in. I mean, they’ve tried and tried to destroy him and so I figure eventually they’d say, if you can’t beat em, at least profit from them”

This is pure speculation and a little playful analyzing....not a hit on Trump.

I do realize the large crowds kind of nullify my theory, but Palin draws crowds like that and probably couldn’t get the poll numbers he has, so it’s possible.

Just because lots of people show up to hear the famous entertainer Trump, who is known to say funny and outrageous stuff, doesn't mean all those people are going to show up and vote for him in Republican primaries. Let's see how he does when the voting actually begins in February.

Cruz supporters, though, are HIGHLY likely to show up at the polls and vote for Cruz in the primaries. And that number is growing and will continue to grow.

Trump is still a curiosity. Something of a cross between Elmer Gantry (without the booze) and Huey Long (without the sweat and southern drawl). His early lead has been driven the electability meme (only Trump can beat Hillary) which is fading. People attend his events and get caught up in the emotion then go home and start to process his empty rhetoric. If this wasn't the case his poll numbers would be moving outside the margin of error.

He may end up being the nominee, but he is going to have to migrate from carnival barker to statesman.

And remember, at the end of the day Cruz doesn't have to outrun Trump, he just has to outrun everyone else.
