GOP Isn’t Grasping Obvious: It’s Still The Economy, Stupid
Investors Business Daily ^ | 11/23/2015 | J.T. YOUNG

If the 2016 election is not determined by the economy, Republicans will lose. And as things look right now, they might even lose if it is about the economy.

The reason for both conclusions is simple: Barack Obama has given Republicans the best chance for victory any president could — a weak economy — but so far they've been unable to seize it.

As measured by growth, Obama's economic record is the worst of any president since Herbert Hoover. Real GDP came in at 1.5% in the third quarter, leaving average growth year-to-date at just 2%. If 2015 finished there, only three Obama years — 2014 (2.4%), 2012 (2.2%) and 2010 (2.5%) — would surpass it.

If 2015 stayed at 2%, real GDP growth over Obama's term would average a scant 1.3%. Over the last 84 years, only Harry Truman — who presided over the declines resulting from WWII demilitarization — comes close with 1.4%. Even dropping 2009's 2.8% contraction would leave Obama with an average real GDP change of just 2% — surpassing only Truman over the last eight-plus decades.

To put this political opening into context, recall what happened...

[snip]

...Americans still rate the economy their top concern.

[snip]

Approaching each of these as means for restoring the economy also transforms them from being seen as negative attacks against Obama and Big Government and into positive responses aimed at solving America's most broadly perceived problem.

Restoring the economy is a unifying message. It draws in the voters whom Republicans need to win next November — something Republicans have failed to do in the last two elections. Obama's poor economic record offers Republicans an unparalleled political opportunity. But to realize it, they must first seize it.

Trump is the only person in politics now, who is for building back up the American economy.

Trump.

Everyone else is for sale, to the globalists.

The GOPe candidates have been a parade of insanity on their policies...more immigrants and a mirror of democrat/socialist policy. Mind-numbing but the mask is off now and we have a clear view of the enemy now.

The GOP needs to hammer home the almost 33% increase in welfare and other transfer payments while people in the military and SS recipients have had less than a 2% increase since this clown took office. Good move, Obozo: Reward the deadbeats but punish those who protect and contributed to this system.

Probably at least in part because the GOP failed to present a cohesive message coupled with a plan of attack on how to fix things. The establishment GOP is clueless.

No problem, Mr. GOPe Stooge—Trump’s got this handled:

Also, before Paris Trump had brilliantly woven immigration and national security issues together with economic ones.

He’s all ready for the general election.

“The economy was doing very poorly in 2012 and B Hussein still won.”

True. Did Romney strongly message “the worst economy since the great depression” in 2012? Did Romney run against the unpopular Obamacare?

No. Instead of developing a strong message and staying on point, Romney chose to play defense as the Democrats pounded him over the “war on women”. Romney never took the offense. He never gave people a reason to vote “for” him while the Democrats did an effective job of energizing their base. Romney ran a pathetic, defensive, campaign, just like McCain in 2008.

Like him or hate him Trump is showing Romney, and the Republican establishment, how to run a winning campaign. Trump has picked key issues resonating with average Americans - immigration, the economy, trade, and American exceptionalism. He is relentless in communicating his message every chance he gets. Every time he is attacked he fights back. He doesn’t apologize for the country, he talks about making it great. He conveys energy, conviction, cunning, confidence, love of country and a real sense of purpose. What did Romney project in 2012? Weakness.

Barack Hussein Obama won in 2008 and 2012 because his opponents were weak candidates with no conviction or willingness to fight. They fought defensive campaigns against a united and aggressive opposition because they didn’t want to be accused of being racist. When you don’t know where you are going, and you fear to make a move, you aren’t going anywhere.

...yes, because the Romney campaign would not blame Obama for the economy.....they would not call them on the phony unemployment numbers.....they allowed Bush to get ALL the blame for the economy, just like in 08.
