MADISON, Wis. (AP) â The national debate over how to accommodate transgender students in public schools is playing out in a Wisconsin state Assembly hearing.
Republican Rep. Jesse Kremer spoke Thursday at an Education Committee hearing in support of a bill that opponents say would be a violation of federal law.
The bill would prohibit transgender public school students in Wisconsin from using the bathroom or locker room assigned to the gender with which they identify.
Kremer says the bill does not violate federal law, but instead protects the privacy and safety of all students.

Yep, let DNA determine which bathroom they use.
Psst, Black Democrat voters oppose these bills too. Just look at Houston.
Perhaps the Wisconsin state Assembly needs to go back to school to learn that sexual identity confusion is a treatable mental disorder.
That might be less expensive than sexual reassignment surgery and putting in additional rest rooms for men who want to be women and for women who want to be men.
Shouldn’t Democrats defend voting against it, rather than the other way around?
Easy: With penis or without penis.
Lock the goofy bastards in Mental Institutions and we won't have to worry about them using restrooms in public.
The shouldn't be let out in public until they are cured.
I will point out that this was the normal way of dealing with this sort of Mental Illness for most of the last and previous centuries.
It isn’t just bathrooms.
If classified as a woman, these mentally ill freaks can demand to share women’s only showers, changing rooms, dorms, probably homeless shelters.
A law firm is saying it’s not against the law to demand men use men’s bathrooms/locker rooms and women use women’s bathrooms/locker rooms, and they say they’ll defend them for free.
