Cruz is it. He has the procedural knowledge, plenty of practice with dishonest government officials.. He knows laws because he has used them against Hillary. He also speaks first during a crisis with an immediate end to refugee programs.

We don’t actually need a Churchill; all we need is a president with some semblance of a spine who isn’t an out-and-out nutter.

I like Cruz also best of all the Republicans so far. . but,
having said that, I will crawl over broken glass for MILES
getting to the voting booth to vote AGAINST Hitler-y
Clinton! Enough Clintons to do for a lifetime! Retire
them!!! - If it’s Trump, it’s Trump.

If you're going to discuss Churchill in the context of dealing with Muslims, you must include the full quote from The River War:
How dreadful are the curses which Mohammedanism lays on its votaries! Besides the fanatical frenzy, which is as dangerous in a man as hydrophobia in a dog, there is this fearful fatalistic apathy. The effects are apparent in many countries, improvident habits, slovenly systems of agriculture, sluggish methods of commerce, and insecurity of property exist wherever the followers of the Prophet rule or live.

A degraded sensualism deprives this life of its grace and refinement, the next of its dignity and sanctity. The fact that in Mohammedan law every woman must belong to some man as his absolute property, either as a child, a wife, or a concubine, must delay the final extinction of slavery until the faith of Islam has ceased to be a great power among men.

Individual Muslims may show splendid qualities, but the influence of the religion paralyses the social development of those who follow it. No stronger retrograde force exists in the world. Far from being moribund, Mohammedanism is a militant and proselytizing faith. It has already spread throughout Central Africa, raising fearless warriors at every step; and were it not that Christianity is sheltered in the strong arms of science, the science against which it had vainly struggled, the civilization of modern Europe might fall, as fell the civilization of ancient Rome.

I strongly suggest reading both The River War and With the Malakand Field Force, and believe the entire officer and NCO corps and State Department should have been required to do so in the wake of 9/11.

I agree with the writer....
TRUMP is the one, Lord willing, to lead us out of this mess.

Reminds me of a true story.....
30 years ago, a madman went on a rampage in our town.....shooting up folks in a shopping mall......he killed two policeman.....shot a pregnant woman ( she lost the baby)..... shot and killed and injured many more and took a young woman hostage.

The pastor where I attended church was ministering to the bereaved and injured...
....and the bully press reporters kept barging in and disrupting and doing what some bully reporters do.
So my pastor told them.....’You do that again, and I will take off my (clerical) collar and show you why you can’t’
....and he meant it!.....

That’s how I see Donald Trump!
We, the People, have been marginalized, ostracized, ignored, embarrassed, disrepected.....by our administration and media.

Trump is the capable, strong protective MAN who has our back!!!!

And I have thought of him in terms of Churchill from the very beginning.
Churchill.....and Cyrus.

Wanted: An American Churchill

Comparing Churchill with Trump is a horrible insult to Churchill.

I disagree.

Trump is the one.

Trump is the one.

He may be the one. But he's no Churchill. And Churchill was no Trump. The idea that one person is ever the reincarnation of another is asinine.

Haha ok I gotta agree with you.

Just saying however, Trump is way out front and saying (a lot) of what I believe in.

For real. He has an enormous base of support in America.

Huge.

Totally disagree. Churchill and Trump are similar in many ways. True leaders who have stood up for their beliefs in the face of scorn and abuse from their political enemies. Unbroken spirits.

Yeah but don't get me wrong. Read the article. The author claims that Cruz would be the American Churchill except that he's too conservative? I want the most conservative person in the White House because the president does more than insult foreign leaders and Cruz is far more conservative on domestic issues than Trump is. Cruz isn't talking about trashing the Constitution like Trump is. Cruz would do a better job of focusing on the problems, unlike Trump who is all over the board. No Churchill is no Trump, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Cruz would be, in my opinion, a lot closer comparison than Trump ever would be.

Oh barf. Churchill showed the courage of his conviction through years spent in the political wilderness. How has Trump been tested? Ever? Where has Trump shown the kind of leadership that Churchill showed? Ever? Trump is a hope. Churchill was a known commodity.

Trump is the (only) candidate in either party, running on bringing jobs back to America.

He’s the only one.

Anywhere. We have been sold out, long enough.

Trump is completely right about this. Completely so.

I don’t see Cruz saying this. I don’t see (anyone else) saying this. Anywhere.

Both of our political parties are completely in globalist mode. Cruz don’t get me wrong is very strong on the border, and I completely support him on that issue. But he really is on the wrong side of the issue of American jobs, which is also why he is stuck down at less than 10% in the polls, I believe.

I am sick of it. Bring back jobs right here.

Trump is going to win, because he’s the only one saying this.

A significant portion of our electorate seems to think that the ability to be glib or to flawlessly deliver a canned-speech from a telepromter constitutes the most important criterion to be president. Exhibits A & B... Bill Clinton & Barak Obama. Throw Reagan & JFK in there if you like.

Trump’s major drawback with that segment will be that he doesn’t measure up in the communication department. Now that may not matter. But in our Media-soaked world, it might be the only way a future president can survive once elected.

Correct. Churchill was in the political wilderness after Gallipoli. He sucked it up. Re-joined the army. Fought in France. Went back into politics when his brand of politics was passing out of fashion.

But he hung in there as the conscious of the political class. When France fell in 1940... that was a major reality check for the Brits. There was nowhere else to turn except to the one guy who had been warning them about Germany for over 15 years.

I believe Trump’s spontaneous and off the cuff delivery is refreshing after decades of carefully handled politicians who rarely do anything that is not scripted ahead of time.

I suggest you do some reading on Churchill.

Manchester's three volume biography of Churchill as well as numerous other books on World War I and II where Churchill was covered extensively. What have you read?
