True leaders who have stood up for their beliefs in the face of scorn and abuse from their political enemies. Unbroken spirits.

Oh barf. Churchill showed the courage of his conviction through years spent in the political wilderness. How has Trump been tested? Ever? Where has Trump shown the kind of leadership that Churchill showed? Ever? Trump is a hope. Churchill was a known commodity.

Correct. Churchill was in the political wilderness after Gallipoli. He sucked it up. Re-joined the army. Fought in France. Went back into politics when his brand of politics was passing out of fashion.

But he hung in there as the conscious of the political class. When France fell in 1940... that was a major reality check for the Brits. There was nowhere else to turn except to the one guy who had been warning them about Germany for over 15 years.
