Assad: Putin the ‘only defender of Christian civilization’

Syrian President Bashar Assad said he considers his long-time ally, Russian President Vladimir Putin as the “only defender of Christian civilization†one can trust, a comment made in an interview with a French magazine following the Paris attacks.
“When I look at the present state of things in the world, I realize that Vladimir Putin is the sole defender of Christian civilization one can rely on,†Mr. Assad told French magazine Valeurs Actuelles,

Assad is not the only one who has come to realize that Putin, not Obama , is the real defender of the Christian people.
A very good reason not to depose pencil neck in Syria. He is the far lesser of evils.

Originally you could tell they intended to do a hit piece but they couldn’t. Everywhere they pointed the camera the Alawites were simply behaving as normal civilized people. Going to the Super Market, Walking their kids home from school, going to the pool, etc. etc.
It was very stark to compare them to the “moderate muslims” screaming “allah ackbar” and trying to kill them.

Russia/USSR has funded for 40 plus years the Assads who aided Jihadists against US forces in Iraq and allowed them to have camps in Syria.
Assad harbored Saddam’s brother until pressured to give him up.

I saw that FRONTLINE piece as well. The scenes were of mixed communities also.
On January 27th, President Bush, in an interview with the Times, assured the world that “torture is never acceptable, nor do we hand over people to countries that do torture.†Maher Arar, a Canadian engineer who was born in Syria, was surprised to learn of Bush’s statement. Two and a half years ago, American officials, suspecting Arar of being a terrorist, apprehended him in New York and sent him back to Syria, where he endured months of brutal interrogation, including torture.

A Dem representative from Hawaii blasted Obama on Sunday for trying to get rid of Assad. She called it a distraction and said Hussein needs to drop it and deal with the Real Issue: ISIS. Can’t remember her name but she nailed it.
