Assad in Syria has already asked Russia to do this against ISIS. Therefore, if we did this, then we be invading Syria against their wishes. Moreover, it would most likely lead to a war not only with Syria but with Russia.

During the Civil War, it was common for senators and congressmen to take commissions in either the Union or the Confederate armies.
I would propose that both McCain and Graham be commissioned and sent to lead the troops in Syria, preferably at the point.

Sens. McCain, Graham Call For U.S. Ground Force In Syria I no longer have any respect for anything either of them says. As far as i'm concerned, they are both excellent reverse barometers, and we should do the very opposite of whatever they think.

Iran and Syria are fighting the ground war with Russian air support, also Iraq which has some militia in Syria. There are tens of thousands of boots on the ground and they belong to folks who live over there
I have no idea where General Linda Graham intends to pitch his tent since I assume he would be in the frontlines
