OSLO: Norway's police, who were to stop wearing their service weapons this week, will remain armed until December 1 because of the Paris attacks, Norwegian authorities said Monday.
The country's 6,000 uniformed officers have been exceptionally authorized to wear their firearms on their belts since November 2014 due to a heightened threat of Islamist attacks.
In ordinary circumstances, police keep their firearms locked in their patrol cars.
Last week, just hours before the Paris attacks, Norway's police chief had announced they would be unarmed again as of Tuesday, after the intelligence service PST lowered the threat level at the end of October.
The PST said arrests in Jihadist circles and the departure of radicalized militants to the Middle East had significantly reduced the likelihood of an attack.

Someone in Norway seems to have shaken off the national fantasy.
Dumb as a box of rocks. If they let them in then the consequences belong to them and them alone.
You know what you call a disarmed cop?
A civilian.
If nothing else they look cute and dapper. Just give it some time and they will whistle a different tune, the time isn’t too far off.
Whew
