WASHINGTON — The Department of Defense announced on Sunday that it had transferred five lower-level Yemeni detainees from the Guantánamo Bay prison in Cuba to the United Arab Emirates. The United States had held each for nearly 14 years as wartime prisoners, and none had been charged with a crime.
The transfers reduced the detainee population at the prison to 107. As many as 17 other proposed transfers of lower-level detainees are in the bureaucratic pipeline, an official familiar with internal deliberations said.

I think realistically, Obama will manage to empty Gitmo before he leaves office. And it will be better for the US if they are sent back to their respective $hit holes in the ME rather than bringing them here. I just hope President Trump will expend considerable effort to hunt them all down and kill them.
Is there a tally of just how many of the Gitmo prisoners who were released went back to their old games and either blew themselves up in a subsequent attack or were captured again on the battlefield?

WASHINGTON March 6, 2015— More than 100 prisoners released from Guantanamo Bay went right back to being terrorists when they got out, according to a new report.
Out of 647 detainees who were released, 116 — or 18 percent — have been confirmed as “re-engaging†in terrorism, according to the report by the Director of National Intelligence.
Of those, 25 are dead and 23 are back behind bars.
Another 11 percent of those released are “suspected†of re-engaging in their jihadi ways, according to the annual summary that is required by Congress.

Why would Obama make this announcement now? What message does he want to send? He is announcing his unwavering defense of the Islamists and staying back from the attack on ISIS.
