If the guy really had support, then FR would have plenty of people backing him.
It is almost impossible to find anyone to go on camera and actually state why they support him. Just like Jeb.
Carson has defenders/apologist, not supporters [at least on this site]. His defenders claim they’re actually Cruz supporters. Something in that equation doesn’t make sense.

Exactly. Carson's popularity seems to exist only in the pollsters' statistics.
To me, it's another huge indication that public opinion polling has become unreliable at best.
What remains obvious, however, is that Donald Trump's support is real, because it's being confirmed by the large and enthusiastic crowds which attend his campaign events, and by the wailing and gnashing of teeth from the media and the GOPe.
I expect Ben Carson's support to continue to fade, and on an accelerating basis. He's a fine man, but I just can't see him as President, and unless something truly miraculous occurs, I expect that to remain the case.
It seems to me there are only two candidates who freepers support: Cruz & Trump. It’s amazing because most of us have been all over the map years ago. I take this as a good thing, myself.
I can’t wait to see what happens here if Romney enters the race!
It is not.
I raise the point due to the apparent emergence of closed-loop thinking that occurs on FR every election cycle. Ranging from 'none of my friends support candidate X' to 'none of my family' through 'none of my co-workers' to 'no one on FR.' Closed loops. All of them. One will always think (largely) the same as their friends ...that's why they are friends. Same with family and co-workers, and same with FR (and DU for that matter). Closed loop with a veritable group think structure.
Proof? Simple.
The two times that Obama ran, I'm sure there was no one supporting him on FR. He not only did not have 'plenty of people' backing him, he had no one. Additionally, the FR choice was NOT McCain the first time, and was NOT Romney the second time. Almost no one (if not absolutely no one) supported McCain or Romney, but they became the nominee.
Finally, why is this important?
Because the problem with closed-loop systems like FR (of for DU, their love for Sanders) is that it makes people drink their own moonshine and think victory is inevitable. Both FR and DU believe Hillary simply cannot be president - FR because Trump will beat her, DU because Sanders will beat her. Both believe she will be arrested (no, she'll not) and will fall off.
Fortunately for us we are supporting a candidate (Trump) for once that has a chance of winning, and one that the opposition (be it the GOPe, the Media, or the Democrats themselves) simply seem unable to find a torpedo solution for. That's a good thing. However, people need to drop the closed loop and see that Hillary will still be a bloody formidable candidate, and seeing her as an empty suit (the same way Obama was supposed to be 'easy' to beat) plays to her strengths. She is a sly, wily, slimy but very focused person, and she'll do anything to win. Take her lightly at your peril.
Anyway, in the same way we don't have a President Perry or President Gingrich - or for that matter Republican Nominee Perry or Gingrich - is the reason we need to be careful of closed loop thinking.
It's a great thing that Trump is ahead, and that The Enemy (whichever form taken) cannot find a way to mess him up (Trump appears to be absolutely bullet proof when it comes to the Left's usual mudslinging), but just know Hillary will be formidable - by hook or by crook.
