Stdent protests roiled college campuses Thursday, when Claremont McKenna College's dean of students resigned under pressure over racial tensions and protesters at more than 100 colleges and universities nationwide demanded the cancellation of student debt.
Dean Mary Spellman at Claremont McKenna stepped down after she sparked a campus protest and hunger strikes by two students this week over her email to a Latina student saying she would work to serve those who "don't fit our CMC mold."
Spellman later apologized but her remarks appeared to be a tipping point for students who have pressed the campus for months for greater diversity among faculty and staff and more funding for multicultural services.
Spellman's resignation came days after student protests over racial discrimination pushed the University of Missouri's president and chancellor to resign. Hundreds of students at Ithaca College in upstate New York have demanded the resignation of the college's president, Tom Rochon over accusations that he has failed to address racial insensitivity. Racial tensions also prompted hundreds of students to demonstrate this week at Yale University.

CMC was considered a bastion of reaction when I attended.
Another ‘college’ whose diploma is now worth less than toilet paper. If I still owned a business, ANY individual who came in my doors seeking employment with a diploma from of one these ‘enlightened’ places of higher learning, I would shred their application in front of them and show them the door....welcoming them to the real world.
This is good, but this happening at UC Berkeley or Harvard would be much better.
I feel sort of like...when Iran was fighting Iraq, for all those years; bad people destroying OTHER bad people.
Let’s simplify - shut down every blankity-blank College/University for a year and force these idiots out into harsh reality to earn a living.
Soon all of the College presidents and deans will be black. Watch as they weed out “whitie” from the campus.

Well what you’d do isn’t what most employers are doing so there’s that.
We can say whatever we want when it comes to college degrees/diplomas but they still have an advantage in the working world, regardless of what people without them want to imagine.

Cancel their debt but there will be a ‘small charge’ to access any school transcripts along with an ‘exit’ surcharge for ‘proof’ of attendance(diploma).......or make university ‘free’ like Europe where there are qualifications that must be met before admittance. My understanding is that less than 20% of all applicants are actually accepted.
