Letâs get real: There is a lot of angst among the GOP establishment over the outcome of the Kentucky governorâs race.
You would think that they would be celebrating the fact that a Republican, Matt Bevin, will control the executive branch in Frankfort for only the second time in four decades. You would think that those who have been pulling the strings of power behind the scenes would be doubly happy that Jenean Hampton, his female running mate, is the first African-American from either party to hold a state-wide office. But no.
There is no joy among GOP power brokers who are accustomed to handpicking the candidates who are allowed to seek these lofty positions. Secretly, they were pulling for Jack Conway the Democrat.
In fact, Bevin and Hampton received no help from the party until the 11th hour when the GOP Governorâs Association stepped in to help put them over the top.
Letâs be clear: Bevin and Hamptonâs victory in Kentucky was a comeuppance for the GOP establishment. In fact, Bevin had been treated as a pariah in the party since he dared to challenge (now) Majority Leader Mitch McConnell for his Senate seat last year, and, worse still, neither Bevin or Hampton has ever held political office.
Horrors! Could this be the beginning of the end of the political class? Could this mean that other candidates who have spent their lives in the real world running businesses, saving lives, balancing their checkbooks and spending their own money might, gasp, even be elected president? Yes it just might.
Bevin, a proponent of small government, relied heavily on his personal story: his business experience, his military service, his Christian faith, his family and his values. Does any of this sound the least bit familiar?

GOPeers don’t know angst....or squat.
Check Drudge, these snakes want to draft Romney.
If the GOPee wants to win they need to develop a V2.0 Reagan Bot.
Let me clarify that - They want Hillary to win.
So how much money is Tokyo Rove making from all these consulting fees?
“Romney? Sounds like the GOPe really does not want to win.”
It is very possible a major economic collapse will occur under the next POTUS. The Chinese are quietly working to dethrone the dollar as the world’s primary reserve currency. They just made their currency directly convertible to Swiss francs. They are working toward IMF acceptance of the yuan as a reserve currency.
We will be over $20 trillion in debt when the next president takes office with quarter of a trillion annual deficits.
This is not true. They ran $6 million in ads over the course of months. The RPK had its call centers for GOTV efforts packed with people - and the RPK is controlled by McConnell loyalists.
It was a great victory. Let's not taint the celebration by inserting false narratives into the discussion.
They're idiots whoever is pushing that. Bush failed. Their backup plan failed in Kasich. Rubio refused to obey them twice by running when it wasn't "his turn" and ran against their hand-picked Charlie Crist so they will not support him when aesthetically, he'd be a fresh face with youth, Hispanic, etc. - he isn't one of "them" - so instead they wanted another Bush, who is failing, Kasich floundered, and so now they want to turn to Romney - again? Well why not McCain? They're idiots.
> They want Hillary to win.
