There’s certainly some of that among anti-gun groups. The government tends to resist it most of the time, generally accepting the distinction between law abiding gun owners and criminals. If that wasn’t the case, the laws would be far worse.

The anti-gun groups make a lot of noise and we do need to worry about them because they do sometimes get listened to but they are nowhere near as influential as they think they are or they claim to be.

I had the obvious thought, that when you create more laws, you create more crime. The studies that I have read indicate that overall, the severely restrictive gun laws in Australia had very little impact on crime, while having significant impact on law abiding gun owners. Of course the disarmists do not mind that one bit.
