Sounds like they have the same mentality as here. Crack down on the law abiding in hopes that the criminal element will just dissipate.
There’s certainly some of that among anti-gun groups. The government tends to resist it most of the time, generally accepting the distinction between law abiding gun owners and criminals. If that wasn’t the case, the laws would be far worse.
The anti-gun groups make a lot of noise and we do need to worry about them because they do sometimes get listened to but they are nowhere near as influential as they think they are or they claim to be.
