COLUMBIA-- MU faculty member Melissa Click and MU staff member Janna Basler have apologized. And Tuesday night, Click resigned her courtesy appointment with the Missouri School of Journalism.

Click was caught up in an incident Monday between a freelance photographer and protesters near the Concerned Student 1950 camp on Mel Carnahan Quadrangle.

"Yesterday was an historic day at MU -- full of emotion and confusion. I have reviewed and reflected upon the video of me that is circulating, and have written this statement to offer both apology and context for my actions," Click, an assistant professor in the Department of Communication, said in a statement released Tuesday afternoon by the College of Arts and Science.

She’s got a job waiting for her at Harvard or Yale. :)

Sounds like the anti-gun activist who accidentally walked into a school with a gun—a felony.
So it’s plea bargained down and he’s sentenced to lecture kids on the evils of guns.

Shouldn’t they give the swastika maker the same courtesy if they were found?

Don’t forget movies rights, public speaking tours and the talk show circuit.

You mean, if he exists? Though I wouldn’t be too surprised at a Farenheit 451 kind of solution to that one - find someone who fits the profile, and pin the blame on him.

She was probably offered a better paying position at an even more liberal university.

she's not going anywhere. She was-- and unfortunately remains-- a professor at the undergraduate college. She had a "courtesy" professorship in the School of Journalism, which she resigned (while the Journalism faculty was already voting on revoking it).

I’ll bet that she doesn’t even connect freedom of the press with the School of Journalism. Liberals don’t deserve freedom. They can’t handle it.

And I don’t think courtesy is her strong suit....

It was her snarky comment to the reporter when he talked about freedom of the press that led the School of Journalism faculty to take a vote on revoking her "courtesy" professorship. She resigned while that vote was in progress.

The University of Missouri Department of Communications website lists their faculty. She is shown as an assistant professor. There is a link to her CV which has her in that rank since 2008.

Her Ph.D. was awarded in Feb. 2009 by the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. Her dissertation was entitled "It's 'a good thing': The commodification of femininity, affluence and whiteness in the Martha Stewart phenomenon."

She had a B.B.A. in Retail Marketing and Women's Studies in 1993 from James Madison University and an M.A. in Communications in 2000 from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.

Her dissertation title has the most important ingredient: a semicolon. I wonder how soon it will be made into a major motion picture.

She is still employed by the university. All she “resigned” from was a committee she sat on at the university (because they needed a diversity person on it probably).

And Tuesday night, Click resigned her courtesy appointment with the Missouri School of Journalism.

I believe the School of Journalism had already revoked the courtesy appointment so it's hard to resign from something you didn't have anymore.
