I believe there is much more to this than simple missile testing. Given the where, and the when...this one stinks to high Heaven.
I do not believe that there is nothing nefarious about it, at all.
It’s my supposition that Zero and 0bamunists contrived this plan and it is intended as a statement to the people of the Southwest US.
Much like the military ‘exercises’ further inland, a couple months back.

Just sayin’...

And we are doing this right off Los Angeles,,,,because?

That is a fully intrumented missile test range. Covered by multiple radar sites and command destruct UHF links if something goes haywire.

What is the purpose of firing these missiles off so close to shore?

Yes this was the Navy telling China and Russia “here’s me looking at you”. :-)

Sheesh!

That is where the radar for tracking and telemetry receiving antennas are. They do want to monitor the performance of a multi million dollar missile, not just light it off like fireworks. I am sure radars from ships around Hawaii monitored it going overhead.

Kwaj is instrumented up the wazoo and saw it coming and scored the impact accuracy.

Other than gutless, useless cars, those times were not so bad, considering what the liberals have done to us these days.

Chicks could be hot and knew it when they were. Being feminine was still acceptable, as well as being tough as in Charlie's Angels..

That’s a relief. Under Obama, one might wonder where the nuts and bolts are for our military anymore, especially in research and development.

You do realize that the Russians are notified of these test launches. Did you also realise that the telemetry is also shared? This warning of launches has been going on since 1988 with the treaty signed on 31st May 1988. No side wants an un-announced test launch to be misinterpreted as a rogue or first strike. The Russians also do the same for their ballistic missile launches and also have a launch notification treaty with China.

Either tomorrow or over the weekend the Russians will test fire their Bulava submarine launched ballistic missiles from the Arctic onto a range in Kamtacha. The warning notices have been out since last week.

I appreciate that reminder that launches are announced. I really kind of forgot about that, and you make a good point.

It’s just that launches do also send another message besides being an exercise. N. Korea and Russia don’t mind at all that there launches can look intimidating, aggressive, even threatening, and this flexing of air power muscle is sometimes timed with global politics, as it is announced as just one more exercise. Nations can send two messages at the same time.
