I sure hope this doesn’t become a Ben Carson-esque story.

I don’t think so. It’s written about in a H.W. Bush biography.

Hopefully Tina Fey’s head will explode by the end of President Trump’s first term. Especially if he picks Sarah Palin as his VP. *BOOM*

I think Ben Carson has been disqualified as a potential V.P.

Cruz would obviously be the guy I want in there. But Allen West might be the best fit for Trump and would be an interesting play of the race card. Wouldn’t hurt with Florida either. It would be risky though to pick anyone who hasn’t yet been fully vetted on the national stage.

After two pages of google search I only find 2015 articles. They all reference HW Bush’s new book - the one where he blasts Cheney and Rumsfield, and says Donald approached him.

Trump confirms he was approached by Bush people. I don’t think there’s anyway to confirm he said, they said except by someone involved originally.

My guess, another attempt to take out Trump to save Jeb.

Atwater’s dead, so no way it’s gonna be challenged, unless someone gets to Bush 41 (who’s not in good shape) or Atwater’s spawn Karl Rove tries to weigh in.

Is that the same biography where 41 trashes Cheney and Rummy?

I can see that happening.

Campaigns look at all sorts of people. Young successful non politician like Trump would be very attractive as a VP for a guy like Bush 1.

He would of been a MUCH better choice then Dan Quyale!

Odd. I heard an interview, on Friday I think (CNN) and just the opposite was said. I think the book says Trump approached 41’s campaign and offered and the offer was met with headscratching. .

I think Cruz should be the next SC Justice. Man with his intellect and backbone can be trusted to safe guard the Constitution relentlessly for decades to come. Jeff Session Senator from AL is most likely Trumps VP pick. He was the 1st major supporter from the GOP to support Trump. Trump Values loyalty. Sessions also balances the ticket geographically, politically and give Trump someone to manage Congress for him. Job of President is too big for 1 person to do it all. A smart executive like Trump is probably all ready thinking about who he wants on his team. He and Sessions work well together.

Allen West would be an interesting choice, because he fills in the gap in military experience that Trump lacks. As you say, it would be risky, because West would be raked over the coals, and it’s hard to be sure there aren’t skeletons back there nobody knows about.

Trump says that Atwater approached him.

Bush’s biographer (or Bush himself) says it the other way around.

The rest of us say “Who the hell cares?”

Is this supposed to set up some narrative of a ‘naked lust for raw power’ that Trump has had for 30 years? Seems like nonsense to me.

Cruz would be a great Justice, but no reason that he can’t be president first. While he’s president, we would get great Supreme Court appointments from him. Then, as long as a like-minded Republican follows him into the White House, he could become the second person since William Howard Taft to become a Justice after being president.

Search Trump Lee Atwater Roger Stone

Roger Stone is the friend of Trump’s that was working on his campaign until he was fired/quit even though he still goes on all of the talk shows pumping Trump.

Roger Stone and Lee Atwater worked together on Reagan’s ‘84 campaign.

I would rather have Cruz at the Supreme Court where he could do good for decades then wasted for 4-8 years waging losing battle after losing battle with a hostile Congress.
