I would refer the gentleman to the events of October 31, 1517.

Revolution against the church which Christ, Himself, had founded, which was 1,517 years successful, was inane then, and more inane now.

....Catholic....Don’t smack a man fighting for his soul and the souls of his children, pray for him! They took a great step!

compared to what???it was inane then and didn't work....it is more inane now that they have learned better.

I read the other day...probably on FR that 70% of American Catholics support gay “marriage”..

I doubt that VERY STRONGLY, but it doesn't matter at all....many so called Catholics also believe that artificial birth control is O.k. ( it isn't ) some also divorce and get remarried....a real no-no but some Catholics are human and have human frailties.

It is the teachings of the church which makes it the true church of Christ and members come and go, but the teachings remain the same.

Instead, a legitimate and biblical effort to return to the faith of the Apostles and their creed. :)

Indeed, and that, of course would be Catholicism....there was no one else around for over one thousand five hundred years....that's a long time....this country is only 226 years old, the Catholic church is now 2,015 years old.

As did I....you reform from within, the Protestant movement was a revolution, they left the church and decided to make their own rules, reinterpret Biblical passages, redefine tradition, eliminate Biblical passages, and re-define such things as Christ's direct instruction to "TAKE AND EAT OF THIS, THIS IS MY BODY"....they said nah, it is bread and wine and He really didn't mean it that way (He did)!!!

After 1,600 years of ALL Christians believing it, the revolutionaries decided that they knew best.....what did all those learned church fathers know....we decided to do things our own way...........How's that working out for you???

Yeah, the movement by Luther was indeed an attempt to reform the current structure, as any historian can tell you.

Moreover, when the contemporaries of Luther from within refused to acknowledge the drift from Apostolic faith, the body of reformers moved on and stayed focused on the teachings of Christ.

****I am waiting for Atlanta’s huge Peachtree Pres to take a hike away from PCUSA.*****

Do you have any ideas on why they have not. I think in the Dallas PCUSA church that left PCUSA they had to pay a huge some of money to leave. With Peachtree Pres minister leaving next year I don't know maybe something will happen there.

Not quite the way it happened, but they'll certainly claim it!!!

They went from Christ's true church to the heresy which they, themselves founded!!!...very sad that they decided, after 1,600 years, that they knew better than did all the learned church fathers who went before them......THOUSANDS of them.

If they came to know Christ better than where that line of men went... then they did the right thing by going where He went. “Let God be true, and every man a liar.”

When you encounter a bad lacuna in how the life of God shared in scripture is carried out, you have to say hmm.

Doesn’t mean you are cursing the group that you “came out of.” Contrariwise you should wish it the best. But you should look for better environs if you have a choice.

Sure it does....if you wished it the best, you would stay in it, after all, weren't you inspired by the Holy Spirit??/

Please don't tell me that after inspiring people for 1,600 years to follow Christ's true church, that He decided that going your own way was the accepted route to salvation.....I don't think so...
